4.5 stars. Knowing next to nothing about Aly going into this book, I really liked it!

I love memoirs and auto-biographies, and this is one of the best ones I've read. It was always very interesting and something I wanted to continue reading. I appreciated Aly's openness and vulnerability in sharing her story. As a fan of gymnastics (but not a gymnast myself), I love watching the beautiful routines, especially floor, but I always wonder what's going on in the head of the athlete and behind-the-scenes, and this book did an awesome job of explaining this. I thought Aly had a lot of insight and very valuable points about both what it is to be a gymnast and just how to live your life, and although the book would likely be more interesting if you know who Aly is or are a fan of gymnastics, I think this could be an enjoyable and useful book for many people.

Aly’s work ethic, dedication to her dreams, and perseverance over many obstacles combined with her kind spirit and outspokenness are something we should all look for inside ourselves. I have zero experience or even much interest in gymnastics. However, Aly’s strength and emotional testimony in the Nassar case made me a fan for life. I remember thinking to myself that I could only hope my young daughter grows up to know that type of courage and conviction.
This story never bored me nor did it ever come across as a pity party for her experiences. This book is about setting goals and using your strength, hard work, and down right heart to obtain them. I’ll be an Aly fan for life after this. What an amazing young woman!

This book was excellent. It delivered Aly’s story perfectly. While she does talk about what Larry Nassar did to her, she keeps it safe for young readers. She writes it in a perfect balance of not to kiddish and YA so as not to bore her audience. Read!!!!

This book really doesn't address all the issues at the Karolyi ranch or the abusive atmosphere in top gyms. It's as though Raisman was training in another planet.
