This was pretty much my favorite things smooshed into one: humor, sex, and Shakespeare.

I loved every word of this book. Every irreverent parallel, every time-bending coincidence, each bawdy witticism. And it is definitely a book I would LOVE to see onscreen.

My name is Will, and that is also the name of this book - coincidence? I don't think so. Someone, somewhere, thought it would be "amusing" to get me a book that's title is something I might say. Even betterer [sic:] the "friend" also got the book signed and dedicated by the author - dedicated to me! The author has written inside the book: "Your name is Will". The whole concept is genius! Shame I can't say the same for the book.
I hate to say bad things about a book, especially when I don't finish it. Who knows, maybe after the first 100 pages the whole thing takes off. Maybe the telling of two stories, one of the [b:William Shakespeare|18135|Romeo and Juliet|William Shakespeare|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51XTDJ3P4XL._SL75_.jpg|3349450] the other of a Will Shakespeare, is a brilliant idea, and the two stories intertwine arriving at a brilliant and amazing conclusion. Unfortunately, I am old and have come to the opinion that I don't have too much time left on this earth - well, not enough time to read all the good books that are out there. And so, if the book doesn't bite in 100 pages then it is time to quit and move on. This book didn't "bite", in fact, as the kids are saying on the streets (so I hear), this book just bites. Bites and sucks. Both. At the same time.
Eighty four pages and I decided that "enough was enough". Enough about future Will and his hunt for drugs, his disastrous family, and his desire to get laid. Enough about real Will and his terrible puns, his disastrous family, and his desire to get laid. Enough.

This was seriously a fun fun read! I am a sucker for anything Shakespeare, so I knew before I even read it that I would most likely enjoy it. It flips back and forth between present day and when Shakespeare was a young man, sometimes in a novel this can be distracting, but it worked very well here. The characters where fun and well developed, just a really good read!!

This wasn’t a quick read for me even though it’s less than 300 pages. It wasn’t a book that I flew through but it didn’t drag either. It was original, charming, bawdy, fun and so fucking clever.

Real Rating: 3.5 stars. I liked it but I don't find it deserving of a full four stars (nor is it particularly deserving of 3 stars but I'd rather go down than up on this one.)

This is a sometimes amusing, yet rather pointless story. If you're a diehard fan of Shakespeare it might have more significance. Mostly the story juxtaposes Shakespeare and Willie's lives as both come-of-age in a world full of drugs, persecution and lust.

I didn't find anything remotely funny about this book. I was highly disappointed.

I had this at five stars at first, then rethought and moved it down to four. I love the plot, the portrayal of drug culture, and the side characters; however, can't ignore that the lady characters are almost exclusively used as plot devices for the dudes' emotional development. Dashka gets to develop a little bit, and '85 Anne is allowed to be pretty strong, but the rest are cardboard cutouts for William and Willie to pinball off of, which is sad and inexcusable.
