a childhood favourite of mine that still holds up. while the two teenage protagonists are fine, the real fun comes from all the other scythes around them. volta remains a fave of mine, i love a cowardly useless man
Very fascinating commentaries on life and death. I loved them! It's nice to read characters with integrity like Citra and Rowan. So I can forgive some weak plot points

hooooooooly guacamole guys this book BLEW MY GODDAMN MIND. i absolutely loved it from start to finish. to be fair, it’s a pretty slow beginning, but once the conflict appears and the plot begins to unravel, SHIT GETS REAL. there were some tears shed, i’ll admit. i honestly thought curie was the one that killed faraday for a majority of the book, but as soon as citra showed up to the house and the silhouette appeared, i knew it couldn’t be anyone other than faraday. PRAISE THE LORD HES NOT DEAD AND HES ON THE RUN!!! also i’m completely and totally in love with volta he’s such a sweetie HE DIDNT DESERVE ANY OF THE TORTURE GODDARD PUT HIM THRU when it was revealed that he gleaned all of those kids and then gleaned himself i cried a bit. i get waaaay too emotionally attached to characters it’s fine i’m ok i’m fine. damn this was such a good book i can’t string together proper sentences without yelling. aaaaaaaa ok it’s like 2 AM i’m going to sleep PLEASE READ THIS BOOK
