It’s upgraded.
The relationship between Cas and Swift is even more developed.
I like how they actually have a healthy enemies-to-lovers relationship?? Like they never intentionally hurt each other and even when they are not talking or distancing they still care for each other. I really love their dynamics and their dialogue. A great pair of leading characters.

I missed that little shit. The main enemy here is the consequences of human greed – a sea of monsters in other words. So there are a lot of fight scenes here. Some deaths. Some unexpected saviors. A somewhat expected ending that goes in everyone’s favor. Am I the only one who would have
Anyway, I am sad the books were so short, I also felt that this would have been better in a one-volume book, it would be like a story in two parts? Like someone could do the drawings for the monsters? That would be cool.
I enjoyed this series very much and would want to read more, Skrutskie keep on keeping on.

Wholesome ending. RTC.

Engaging sequel, but the angst was a bit much at times.

While I didn't love this one quite as much as the first - I still thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the plot was just as compelling, but my one complaint is that I wish there was more romance instead of just talking about the romance. I totally understand why there was still tension between Swift and Cas, but after the entire first book waiting for them to get together, it was a little frustrating to have them be apart for so much of the second book too! That being said, it was still a 5 star read for me, and absolutely worth it if you enjoyed the first.

See review of the first book. They’re really the same book, just divided, like LoTR. Amazing, terrifying, beautiful.

I *really* enjoyed this duology. A big part of me wishes both books were longer, but I also appreciate the tight story telling. Loved the characters and the world and how sea monsters were used. This was also a satisfying (if not surprising) end to the story.

I'm REALLY glad I continued with this series and read the second book. Since I was already familiar with the world it was much easier to warm up to the plot. I started to fall in love with how Skrutskie writes the romance; it's increasingly complex and processes really difficult emotions which I'm very impressed with. I blew through this in a day, so would definitely recommend sticking with it!

3.75...?
I have mixed emotions right now. I think I need to process this for longer, but so far I know I liked the end and that we had waaaay more "equal footing" *wink* *wink*. I'm not sure how I feel about the way the story is built, but overall I liked it.
I think I liked the first one a little more, tho. Idk just yet.

So it took me a (comparatively) long time to finish this book as I started well over a month ago. And holy cow, I don’t know why it took me so long to finish, because this series is seriously so fucking awesome. Also Bao is baby. Thank you and good night
