I liked Ari and O'Doul a lot more than I expected, and this was probably the first time in a while that I read a book with a "dangerous" element that didn't annoy me.

Am I the only one who feels like this book is not finished?

One of my fav second chance romances. Rookie Move is up there but this one, with Lo and Mike, a both older in their late-20s/early-30s, felt more bittersweet – especially with Mike's ex-wife being stricken with terminal cancer just as their divorce is finalized which is why he broke up with Lo. Their coming together again 2 years later was relatively low-angst. The challenges stemmed largely from Mike's antagonistic 13yo daughter but that is resolved fairly quickly. All in all, very satisfying.

I listened to the audio book from the library and while I liked a lot of it the plot holding the story together was weak and often unrealistic even while SB does her usual awesome job on the MCs. The heroines relationship with her ex felt fake and often annoying.

Patrick, however, is thoroughly awesome and his character and background are developed well. But SB uses Arianna to create most of the tension and i got impatient with the misunderstandings, her determination to not get involved with anyone and her utter lack of faith in Patrick even though she knows he’s a good guy. it didn’t help that I wasn’t crazy about the female narrator’s voice.

The crisis scene with the ex, the villain, and Patrick felt phony as is the police investigation. But the interactions between ari and Patrick and Patrick and everyone else is so well done I had to keep listening.

Oh my lord was this good! Patrick was hot af and I loved Ari so much! Their grumpy/sunshine dynamic was super cute and their chemistry was great. I thought the pacing and flow of their story was even better than Leo and Georgia’s book. As per usual for Sarina Bowen, the side characters were fantastic, and I can’t wait for Becca and Nate’s book!

This was much better than the first book in the series. Patrick O'Doul, captain of the Brooklyn Bruisers, is starting to feel the aches and pains that come with the job. He is instructed to get massages from the team masseuse and yoga instructor, Ari Bettini. Ari has just gotten out of a long relationship that ended badly. She's not looking for anything more, even the team captain, and all round grouch, stirs something inside her. Added in is her crazy ex, who is taking forever to remove his property from her place.

Patrick is now a member of my Book Boyfriend Club. He was the typical grouchy, grumpy, surly guy but actually had a sweet side
SpoilerI fell in love with him when he asked his captaincy to get his teammates to write down suggestions on how to romance a lady *swoon*
. He was all kinds of awesome and just a steady rock for Ari whose life was turning out to be crime drama. As for Ari, she was a strong character, who was learning her own strengths and capabilities and I liked how she was able to handle the hockey players despite it being a male-orientated environment.

This was all round a great read and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
