Wow. I was definitely skeptical going into this because I didn’t like Patrick in other books I’ve read but he is such a dreamboat here. The book had me feeling butterflies the whole way through.
Other than that, I love how the damsel in distress trope was done here - it wasn’t overly dramatic despite the situation the heroine was in. And Patrick was truly so smitten with her that you can’t help but root for him (especially after knowing his past ugh). Loved the pining so much and how much character development Patrick goes through! It was crazy how much he softened up and how his views really changed!
Definitely definitely give this a read. So glad I did!

“When I told him I needed a friend, he hugged me. And he smelled so freaking good I just wanted to climb into the collar of his shirt and stay there forever.”
“That would get weird eventually,” Becca said, draining her cup.
Alright guys, I'm lagging. Three reviews down, two to go. I'll probably keep this one short because it was my least favorite of the group. I still enjoyed it, really I did! I loved getting to know more about O'Doul and why he's so prickly (uh pretty fucking sad btw) and also watching him fall in love. Ari was a fine character, too, and it was interesting getting all of the different yoga and meditation aspects from her perspective. I can't say I've ever read about that before! I thought they both worked really well together since she was mostly all calm and he was, as the title points out a hard hitter, lol. Overall though, I just didn't connect as well to their story as a whole *shrugs*.
Side note: It should be mentioned that every book in the Brooklyn Bruisers and Brooklyn series can be read as standalones. In my own personal opinion though, once you read one, you won’t stop until you read the rest.

Woohoo - this one is a hot one. Nothing too over the top, but these two can't keep their hands off of each other. Sarina Bowen is one of my new favorite authors. As a hockey fan, I just love these stories that weave in a fictional Brooklyn hockey team's players.
I am liking the Brooklyn Bruisers series so far (very binegable) but both book 1 & book 2 leave something to be desired. I felt like there was a lack of romance and I don't feel the strong connection between the love interests like I'm suppose to. The author could have taken things slower with Patrick and Ari's relationship. It started off promising but then jumped ahead too quickly. The pacing just felt off. I still found them cute together but just wished their romance was developed a bit better. I really liked the side characters as well, Rebecca's book is looking like it will be my favorite.

After reading Rookie Move in the summer, I was quite excited for the continuation of the Brooklyn Bruisers series by Sarina Bowen. I really liked this second installment, though I have to say that it didn’t come close to the feelings I had for the first book.
Once again, Sarina’s writing was on point. By now this is a non-issue, because she always delivers. But I have to say that I can’t connect to her books as much when she writes in the third person… I’m a 1st person kind of girl, *sigh*. Still, the writing is amazing, and it definitly wasn’t an issue with this book.
While I really liked both characters, I wasn’t able to connect 100% with Ari. She was a great girl, and I understood how her previous relationship left her a bit skittish, but her hot and cold reaction to Patrick didn’t quite sit well with me. I got it, I just didn’t really liked it. O’Doul on the other hand really surprised me, because I thought he was gonna be cold and detached like he was in the beginning of the book, but he grew up a lot during the story and allowed himself to be more open, while at the same time showing himself as a super romantic and patient guy. Ari was a lucky girl, when she allowed herself to be.
I liked the progression of the romance and how it didn’t just happen. Ari and Patrick actually got to know each other and became friendly before they got involved and I appreciated that. I did think that for all the talking they did, they didn’t talk about some pretty big issues, and I kind of needed them to?! I felt like that little thing was missing.
I wasn’t expecting the kind of plot that this book turned out to have, but I did enjoy it. While some things were sort of predictable, others weren’t even on my radar, and I liked the “surprise”.
Overall this was yet another strong Sarina Bowen romance and a great continuation to the Brooklyn Bruisers series. I can’t wait for the next book, Pipe Dreams, and I still want something from Nathan and Becca, because those two…arghhh!

Sarina Bowen is one of those authors who writes books I cannot put down once I start reading them. Pipe Dreams was no exception to this rule. Even though I know nothing about hockey I find myself fascinated by the story because it is so well written. The whole Brooklyn Bruisers series is a must read.
I am reviewing this book based on an ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest opinion.

ahh this was nice. i loved both Ari and Patrick, i was waiting to read their story and they did not disappoint.
since i'd read the first two Brooklyn books (which are technically #4 and #5 in this series) and haven't finished the Ivy Years series yet i'm having a whole lot of fun putting pieces from those other books together while reading the brooklyn bruisers books.
onto the next one!

I just love this series and this author. Her knowledge about the sport really adds to the characters and story. A little hokey but just entertaining!
