I really loved this book.  Naya is a fantastic main character, and seeing everything from her perspective worked well (sometimes I wish we had the romantic partner as well in romances, but in this case it was good having just one perspective).  I liked how realistically yet healthily characters communicated their feelings and needs mostly- not too much miscommunication for people who are turned off by that.  The cheesy jokes were fantastic and I found the banter very compelling- lots of grinning along while I read and a few LOLs.  I found myself opening the app store to re-download bumble after the first third of the book- Jake is very much so a swoon-worthy love-interest.  Not only were our main couple wonderful, but the cast of friends and other characters were interesting and- for the most part -fun as well!  The story unfolded nicely- it was paced in a way that kept my attention but didn't feel like it was going at break-neck speed.  The last fourth of the book had my heart pounding though- very intense.  Lastly, I personally enjoyed the steamy scenes, even more because the chemistry out of the bedroom was also top-notch.

trigger warnings: sexual assault, abusive ex, gaslighting, harassment, slut shaming, sexual content, alcohol, divorce

A really touching romance that is brimming with passion and also hella anxiety. I did appreciate the care with which the author wrote the romance between the two leads while the main character was also dealing with her abusive ex coming back into the picture and making her life a living hell. I loved the growth of both the leads together and as individuals leading to them being stronger together in the end. Also the vindication in the conclusion.....absolutely epic.

I really loved this romance! The conflicts and problems the couple faces are realistic and serious, and I love when romance books involve the main character’s friends, work, family etc. Basically, this is a sweet romance that is based in reality, and the characters are in their 30s so it’s a bit more relatable for me.

Naya’s ex, Davis is a piece of trash so trigger warnings whenever his character is involved. Just be aware that there is intimate partner violence and verbal/emotional abuse discussed on the page. Naya’s journey of processing her trauma and healing is rewarding to read, and I appreciated the scenes where she stood up for herself.

CW: misogyny, intimate partner abuse, verbal abuse, trash ex-boyfriends, overly confident but incompetent white men.

TRIGGER WARNING: The main character was in an abusive relationship, she is dealing with her trauma during the book, her abuser comes back into her life and attacks her. This was nowhere in the description and there was no trigger warning at the start of the book. It is really bad form for the publishers to miss this important step.
