I loved this book, but as a heads up: very intense, especially for those who have been in abusive relationships in the past. It’s healing in many ways, but be aware just in case you’re not there yet 💕

I absolutely LOVED this book! The characters are so relatable, Naya's struggles with DV hit home for me, and Naya's and Jake's love story is realistic and adorable.

Naya is extremely relatable to me. She is a fierce, intelligent woman. I appreciated that Denise Williams wrote her as such because of her struggle with past DV. It shows readers that DV can happen to anyone. It doesn't happen to just women who are "weak" or "dumb" or whatever other stereotypical response you can think of. Please be vigilant not only of our relationship, but the relationships of those closest to you. Jake's unhealthy past relationship is also discussed. Not just women can experience DV.

I highly recommend this book to everyone. Denise Williams has officially become an instant read/buy for me! I can't wait to read more from her.

For a debut novel, I really enjoyed this one. I read Denise Williams’ second book, The Fastest Way to Fall, before this one but I found this one to be such a good read. I felt this book handles some really complex issues and does so in a cathartic, well told way. It was a very believable story. I also adored Jake. I do wish that we’d had Jake’s POV, something that I liked about The Fastest Way to Fall. There were so many moments where I had the goofiest smile on my face and who can hope for anything else while reading a romance book.
