A must-read for Stephen King fans. In addition to the actual nods to his work within the book, I couldn't help but notice a similar style and pacing, jumping between different character's narratives, longer at first between jumps, then more quickly as everyone's paths begin to diverge at the end of the story. I found it refreshing to read a Black story from a Black person's view, and I look forward to trying out more of Tananarive Due's writing in the future.

Read on my Kindle. I have heard many good things about this book and Due's work in general, and boy does my first experience live up to expectations!! This book, from the first page, drew me in. The world-building, the history, the family - it was all so rich, so well thought out. I needed to know what was happening. If anyone has read this one, I'd love to chat about that ending!

Also Due definitely gets bonus points for the many nods to King! "Hi-ho, Silver, away!"
