Uh… I don’t know about this one. It wasn’t bad, but it was nowhere near as good as the Foxes books.
While I like Jean and Jeremy, I an’t say I’m invested in them. Same with the secondary characters.
The pace was too slow, the plot not as good.

reading this was not enough, I need to inject it in my veins and tattoo the entire book on my body for eternity.
A consistent thread in her writing is that the characters live through the most unspeakable events and traumas
I really struggle with the degree of violence. I think it quickly deviates from tackling devastating and disturbing topics to being overcome with horror/shock factor. It’s hard for me to articulate, but it at times feels like the writing is careless- which is not okay.
Outside of this huge criticism there are still things I love about this stupid series. I loved Jeremy, Laila, Cat, Jean quad. And thank god love to see neil having a diva off with the fbi just like old times. Also shout out to the narrators commitment to the french accent.

after three books where i couldn't give less of a fuck about any of the characters, i'm afraid this one got me. i loved jeremy!! u got me nora! i think jean's backstory and characterization felt more tangible than the characters from the main trilogy, but that may also be because at this point i'm just accepting all the weird mafia connections. anyway the pacing was still not Great imo but i'll read the last one for jeremy too x
