dark sad tense

I've never really been in the jerejean corner or the ravens corner of the aftg fandom so when this book was first announced it didn't really spark any interest for me.
This year, after my aftg reread, I got curious though and finally read TSC.
And unfortunately it didn't catch me in the same way aftg did/does.
The first two chapters were super hard to get through, for some reason I struggled to understand Jean's thoughts and his conversations with Kevin.
It got better lately but I feel like Jean just really can't get a break. I know the characters in aftg also went through it and came with a lot of baggage and trauma but Jean really got so many issues that it felt like too much for me.

I really really adore Cat and Laila though. And Jean adding more and more good things to his list. And seeing the foxes and especially Neil from other people's POV. Highlight of the book was definitely Neil coming to LA and everything he chose to do during that brief stay lmao

EEEEEKKK!! A totally unexpected surprise but hey I’m here for it!!

Andrew and Neil will always be my fav ship and characters, at least in this series but watching Jean’s character development!?!!! I’m so proud of my boy!! It definitely got really heartbreaking to read at times but definitely less unhinged than the first three

i need jean & jeremy to happen SO BADLY.

Something about these books just scratches my brain in the exact right place. The writing style is so easy to read and the characters are so interesting and realistically messy. I honestly didn't know if I would like Jean, but he got such depth of character that I couldn't not fall in love. Him and Jeremy trusting each other more and more throughout was beautifully done. I can't wait until Jeremy's traumas start coming to light and Jean supports him through it. Also, more of Neil being a helpful little smartass is always a fun time especially from Jean's POV.
