Bones of a good story but some niggly grammar error

This one had all the makings of a good story but I kept getting thrown out of it because of bad grammar editing and typos.

It's a shame because on paper the story narrative had lots of good elements to it, although I did raise a question about the setting of the incident which kicks it all off and whether it was too soon.

Still, there was only a little bit of angsty dramady and I didn't feel like this was too much of an insta love romance and the steam level was on the higher and hotter side.

UGH, so disappointing. I just adore the four bears series and was hoping I would love this just as much. Unfortunately, the writing is stilted and awkward and I just couldn't read more than 20%.

I wavered between 3 and 4 stars...the story isn't bad, the characters are great, and I love insta-love (although it was more like insta-love/slow-burn). I guess my biggest issue was the lack of communication, it's my pet peeve and so much conflict could be avoided if they would just talk to each other. I also kind of got mad at Madden for doing what he did but that's beside the point. I also had a hard time with the transitions between the characters but I'm not counting that in this review because I don't know if it was due to me being really tired or some editing issues.

Rescue Me (Heathens Ink #1) by K.M. Neuhold – This one is on kindle unlimited. Serious trigger warnings and both of them could use bubble wrap! But it was a sweet one! Happy Reading!

Now that was surprising, though I shouldn't be with Neuhold, a new mm favorite. They've just met, in a bar, and a hate crime happens. Thane is a firefighter and Madden a tattoo artist, now Madden has to heal and Thane offers his place as it is easier access. Madden is a rejected son because of his parents bigotry, he has been on the streets and into drugs then saved by the tattoo parlor's owner. So now he is being saved again. He has a lot of hurt to get through and a life to get back to while Thane is on the ride and really hope he is part of that life though he doesn't know completely what it will entail quite yet.

Do not read this for accurate medical, ... well anything. There is definite issues there and timing had issues too but I really like the characters and how they ended up together.

Ok, this was a decent enough read - it was hot, it had an actual plot line, etc. I mean it had a lot going for it. My main issue was just that it was a little unbelievable in the insta-love. Thane sees Madden across a crowded club and BAM

I turn my gaze to the bar and my attention snags on a man. I’d like to say he’s any other man, like all the guys here tonight. But something about him immediately draws me in.

And then, a few minutes after they meet, the club is attacked and Madden is shot - at which point Thane saves him, gets him to the hospital, stays with him, and takes him back to live with him.. platonic only of course. I mean common.

Anyway, once you suspend that belief a little bit, the rest of the story is good. Thane and Madden are dealing with the aftermath of being involved in a hate crime, specifically Madden's anxiety and PTSD and its effect on his sobriety - I was happy that this seemed to be depicted well.

All in all, while I wasn't thrilled, I will try the next one, only because its MMM and the characters intrigue me.

[2.5] I enjoyed the story for what it was but can't help but feel like a good portion was missing in terms of execution, especially with the heavier themes. I can only say I was expecting more on that front. Coming from a healthcare background, I also found some of the medical jargon thrown around at the beginning to be a lil spotty XD
