Very good book. Hannah is just trying to figure things out and screws up her life in the mean time. She keeps looking for things because she can't really believe that they are gone.

I enjoyed the story and the characters and how it went from sister to brother. But the ending was not anything great.

I read this book for my book club, and am glad I did. I could not put it down. Having lost my mother at a young age I totally understood Hannah from the outset. We all believe want we want to believe, sometimes living in a fantasy world, until something clicks and we realize there might be another answer.

While some of the writing was lacking, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Bonus? Takes place in Charleston, Sc!!

I picked up this book mainly because of the title and the cover photo. I thought it would be this deep mysterious novel but it fell short on many levels. The main character is so so lost in the beginning and I feel like she is still lost down to the last sentence. I didn't love the side character's either or their story lines. Very disappointed with zero resolution at the end.

I definitely liked this novel more than Crouch's last, Girls in Trucks. I think I would probably give it a 2.5 though. It was a good story but like the last one, it felt short to me. It's almost 300 pages but sometimes I wonder what took up those 300 pages because it seems like not a whole lot happened as far as plot. I will say that I didn't believe the main character, Hannah, was as old as the book says she is; she just doesn't seem like a 35 year old to me (maybe that's just me though, do I know what a 35 year old should act like?). I'm just saying, I would have believed it more if the author was in her twenties. I think I actually liked Hannah's brother Palmer's part of the story better than I liked hers. He was an interesting character and I thought his take on what happened to his father/why he left and then finding out what really happened was very interesting.
Overall the book read pretty well. I finished it in 2 days (partly because it was a one week loan from the library!).

I rarely ever love a book when I don't like the main character. As the book went on, I began to understand the protagonists of this story more and more. While I did get where they were coming from, often, I still didn't much like them. So I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading about the things going on in their lives.

Just a cute, fun, light little read for the week between Christmas and New Years, when you don't feel like taxing your brain. I read this in about 24 hours. The characters were lovable but exasperating in their fucked-up-ed-ness. Glad I'm diving into this author's work after loving The Embassy Wife (which was even better).
