Notes:

Yay for libraries! One of the better book recommendations from the library system. =)

The narrator was okay. Downfall was her inability to keep the different character voices consistent. That made it easy to mix up the dialogue. If the narration was better, I'd give this book 4 stars.

I enjoyed the windy unveiling of the plot. Great popcorn mystery.

Usually I'm a big fan of Erica Spindler's thrillers but this one just didn't catch my attention. The victims and the killer were not surprising, and I didn't really care about most of the characters. Maybe it was just a little too dark for me, or maybe I just don't like wine?

I thought this book was average. I didn't really like the main character of Alex, just found I couldn't warm to her, plus all the coincidences involving her became tiresome after a while. I thought rare parts of the writing were slightly cringeworthy and made me roll my eyes as soon as I'd read it. Also I didn't like that EVERYTHING had to be related back to the fact they were all families built on wine legacies (one had a dog called Pinot.) and I managed to guess the ending fairly early on which is rare for me. However the plot overall was interesting enough to make me keep reading, I liked some of the family dynamics and enjoyed Reed's character.

Thrilling! I have read other books by Erica Spindler and knew she is good at creating suspenseful stories that can hold a reader in a vise. Blood Vines was no different, towards the end the story just exploded with lots of revelations and even though the central point is the discovery of body in the vineyard, there were whole lot of sub -plots creating an evil aura for the story. The romance segment is much lighter compared to other books in the same segment.

Really enjoyed this book by Erica Spindler, first book I have read of hers and I will be sure to read more. The story gripped me from the start and I found it hard to put the book down. Fantastic twist at the end, didn't see that coming. Fantastic!

I love most of Erica Spindler's books, she's an author I found ages ago and always try to make sure I've read whatever her current book is. I'm giving this one four stars although I am not 100% sure it's because I loved the book or because I love her an an author, if 3.5 stars were an option that's where this one would more than likely land. There were times when I felt like this book went too fast and there were times when I felt like it went too slow. In the end, I liked the story and the plot, however I figured the majority of it out half way through. There was never a gotcha moment that I kind of like. Although in all honesty that could be because I have read everyone of her books and know somewhat how her mind works. I'd recommend this to people who love a good mystery, but with a notation that there are some weird undertones that some people may find offensive.

This book is about a woman called Alex whose mother commits suicide and leaves behind a mysterious past which Alex sets out to find. After discovering her mother was once married to a wealthy vineyard owner but then the relationship dissolved when their infant son went missing, Alex decides to go to this town and see if she can find some answers to her and her mother's past. As Alex starts to remember and sees connections to her dark nightmares about blood rituals, cults and violent deaths the pieces of the puzzle start to come together. It was a little predictable but I still didn't figure all the clues out and it was an enjoyable read.

Very good suspenseful tale - the perfect book to read on the trip home from Napa, since it's set in the Sonoma Valley. Loved the twists and turns in the story - a few things I managed to predict, but there were surprises for me even at the end.
