These characters just didn’t “spark”  for me. I never got why they just didn’t communicate AT ALL??? Would have solved SO many issues! But truthfully, I really didn’t care about them, & almost did not finish. I usually love Claudia Burgoa’s characters, but not these 2.

If you're craving an intense emotional journey, this book delivers. Despite moments of frustration, it mirrors real-life complexities, where sacrifices for loved ones are both noble and misguided. The story delves into the aftermath of a tragic plane crash that haunts the protagonist, Brahms, with survivor's guilt so heavy it drives him to drown his sorrows in alcohol and ultimately to hit rock bottom. Seven years later, he's a shell of his former self, indifferent to his own existence. His brothers intervene, calling upon Fifi, his former love and now a physical therapist, to help him reclaim his life.

"Famous Last Words" weaves a poignant story of love lost and second chances as Brahms grapples with a promise made to a dying friend. From the outset, Brahms evokes sympathy, hinting at deeper struggles beneath the surface. His reliance on destructive vices only serves to amplify his pain, leading him down a perilous path. Yet, amidst the darkness, his journey towards redemption adds a layer of profound depth to his character.

His character, laden with tragedy, masks pain with sarcasm, making reconnection with his greatest love, Seraphina a rather delicate dance. Their journey from friends to lovers to enemies and back to lovers is rife with tension, though the prolonged enmity throughout the majority of the book left me wanting more. While I appreciate the suspense, withholding the major revelations until the final chapters felt like an abrupt resolution to a drawn-out conflict.

Seraphina's icy demeanor, while understandable, made it difficult to connect with her on an emotional level. I yearned for her to take more initiative in uncovering her own truths, adding complexity to their reconciliation. Their eventual reunion, while realistic in its imperfections, feels hurried, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction.

Despite its shortcomings, "Famous Last Words" remains a beautifully crafted tale, albeit one that falls slightly short of its potential. While initially deserving of a five-star rating, the rushed resolution and unresolved tensions ultimately docked a star.

This is an emotional, second-chance story that eventually brings Brahms and Seraphina back together. Have your tissues ready; they will be needed, and your heart will also get a workout.

A love that is lost, one loses their way, and another loses it all to trust.  Add in secrets and lies, but once the dust settles, and communication is restored, is their love enough to mend hearts?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS is currently a standalone but I have a feeling we will be seeing more of Brahms and his brothers in future books, whether or not they get their own series remains to be seen.

This story is an emotional roller coaster and at times I wasn't happy with the ride but then something would happen to make me enjoy it again. I fluctuated with my rating of this book several times, just like the roller coaster ride.

At first I had a hard time connecting with Seraphina, I found her quite annoying at times. She would be blinded by certain things and not let the person she claims to love explain his side of anything, who does that? She did have some redeeming qualities and overall she did win me over...a little bit at least.

Brahms, I liked him instantly and I knew there was MUCH more to the story than what was being said. He lost so much and had a hard time dealing with everything so he turned to vices that dragged him down the rabbit hole and he found himself in trouble more than once. Thankfully his brothers were there to help him out when needed.

Both families had issues, but Sarafina's wins the award for the most F#cked up. YIKES! Her father was the worst and I don't say that lightly either.

I loved the third quarter of this book and was really happy with the way things played out. I wish it hadn't taken them so long to work things out but I understand why things had to play out the way they did. As I mentioned earlier I really liked Brahms brothers and I am looking forward to seeing them pop up at some point in the future.

I listened to the audiobook version of this book and really enjoyed the way Jason Clarke and Stella Hunter brought this story to life with the duel narration.

I would recommend this book to readers that enjoy Steamy Contemporary Romances, New Adult Romances, Second Chance at Love Romances, Rockstar Romances, Enemies to Lovers Romances, Billionaire Romances, Forced Proximity Romances, or Secret Baby Romances.

Happy Reading!!!

Famous Last Words
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Jason Clarke, Stella Hunter

Claudia Burgoa, my heart can't take it! This book has a bit of everything, but what a story.I started this and could not stop listening. Not only is the narration impeccable, the characters stole my heart. Seraphina(Fifi) has been living, but not happily since the death of her brother and sister. Not only did she lose those two that day, but the reason for the crash is throws her even more. Blamed by her mother, she gets out of the toxic environment and starts a physical therapy clinic. On the verge of bankruptcy, she is offered a client that could pull it out, but will she take him? Brahms is Fifi's first love, and her brother's best friend. He is racked with survivor's guilt from the crash and his life is in a downward tailspin. Now in need of not only mental help, an accident has left him in a way that could possibly end his music career. Will Fifi take him on? This is emotional is so many ways. Burgoa is a master at ripping out my heart and putting it back piece by piece. With these two, she packs in so much, switches easily from past to present giving all the background I need, and keeps me wondering if Fifi should just give in! Secrets are plentiful, and minds are closed so this is a tough one, but the ending is perfect. Oh, and let me just say, the names of all Brahms's brothers are fantastic! Love the musical theme and I hope we get to hear more!

Stella Hunter and Jason Clarke are fabulous together as these Fifi and Brahms. Hunter is emotionally charges as Fifi begins to deal with her feelings. From past and present, she brings out all the things that need to be dealt with and touches my heart with each one. Clarke, the grumpy, broody, broken Brahms is amazing. He just delves into the heart of this man, let me feel his pain and how he pulls himself out with the love he has for Fifi. These two are the perfect melody for this story.

I'm always prepared for this author's books to break me in some way...and this was no exception. I loved the flashbacks from their first meeting, the crash and the aftermath of that. I liked the text message format...but I really loved the sass of Ewan! Yes, it's a tough read and there were tears but so worth it! Now I just hope that Bartok, Joplin and Ellie get books as well.

Wow! This is such a great read from the beginning and I loved getting to know Brahms and Seraphina and the intensity that is there between them. The story gives us their then and now throughout so that we can feel those feelings, the ups and downs, and how that plays into their entire relationship. There are moments that hit at the heart, pull at different emotions, and it all comes together well. The flow works, the character pull to each other can be felt, and I just really enjoyed it. There are secrets that kept the pages turning as well. A must read!
