The Art of War

Sun Tzu

3.6 AVERAGE

The actual "war" part of this book is a bit dated, obviously, but the psychological aspect of it, the leading of people, doesn't change. That part is like The Prince in its explanation of how to rule, how to bend wills and influence people. While I'm sure most is lost in translation, it is still a very...I wouldn't say poetic, but still a very good read, like looking at a sculpture that you might not love, but appreciate the work put into it.

I actually read the Thomas Cleary translation of this, which doesn't seem to exist here, that is the only reason I give this 4 rather than 5 stars.

Anyone who looks at this as a military strategy book is wrongthinking. It's much more high-level than that, and its often banal-sounding wisdoms are actually pretty universally applicable as foundations for how you approach large problems.

One of the most red pill book. If you like a comedy and want to laugh for an hour. I recommend this. The insight to the psyche of "alpha male."

This was not a book that I was intending to read. But, since I'm trying to see how I adapt to audiobooks, this one was free and easy to grab.

Regardless, it seems like an average book. Half of it seems like broad and generic tips and hints. The infamous "it all depends on the context". The second half is more war oriented. Since business people love the war metaphor, it was clear why self-help/coaches loves the book so much. On my side, I feel little was added to the cup.

I like how everything makes sense, it's just logic and a point of view that people should have in different aspects of life and not just for "war". I think the same principles, or kind of the same, could also be applied to bussines for example.
