One of my favorite books in the series although I always find the hostage exchange scene to be boring. Love getting to see the Faceless Ones and I love how this expands China’s backstory (one of my favorite characters). I’m gonna take a small break in my reread but I am really enjoying my reread of this series. It is always such a joy each time I read through all the books.
The story isn't really developing much at this point. Just fighting
Though I still liked this book, it was my least favorite out of all of the SP books I’ve read so far. It just seemed less funny, and humor is something I value in these books, seeing as the last two (especially #2) were HILARIOUS. That cliffhanger though...CAN’T WAIT FOR BOOK 4!

I really did not expect this book to be 5 stars YET AGAIN. But it just ate, it devoured. It left no crumbs. In fact it ate the plate.

I'm curious how this book is going to keep up the stakes and keep momentum going. I was kind of expecting it to kind of lose me but the ending was SO GOOD. I was actually gaping like a fish in shock while reading it. Many people may have seen the plot twist coming from a mile away but I certainly didn't. And I already thought I knew what was going to be happen but NOPE.
Anyway as usual obsessed with all the characters in this book and so so excited to see what the dynamic between the necromancer and Valkery is going to be.
Also Fletcher, potential love interest, I see you!

Definitely a darker story than the two that preceded it, but still full of very funny lines and situations. The twists and turns of the plot are great; I am amazed at how well the mysteries are hidden until the moment they are revealed.
The inner flap of the book is right, though, about how (1) the previous stories had a lot of dangerous situations, but in the end the world was saved and while a few heroic characters had some injuries to recover from, everything was pretty much okay and (2) this book is does not walk that same path. "Do panic. They're coming."
I think what I like best about this book series is how things from the previous books -- things that don't seem to be important details at the time -- play key roles in the continuing story. Key plot points are hidden under either humor or mundanity (is "mundanity" a word?) until the shell is lifted at the opportune time and it is so obvious that the thing has been there all along.
I will be starting the next book right away. Even if my key listeners -- my younger son and, for reasons I cannot explain, the cat -- were not demanding to know what comes next, I would override their votes on this one.

This book is the book where things start to become a little bit darker. Certain secrets are hinted at that leave a lot of questions and it seems that skulduggery has gone forever into another dimension. You also have the hint of a romance between fletcher and val which highlights that she is growing up and is 14 in this book. Also ghastly is back in this book which is great because he is like the sensible park skulduggery seems to be missing and helps balance him out
