What a fabulous series opener. I enjoyed reading about the book friendship between Cait and Embry because it reminded me so much of me and my bestie.
Cait is a strong independent woman who was thrust into the paranormal/supernatural world against her will. This is definitely a rejected mates tale. Roman our leading man is full Alpha but I adored his softer patient side.
The cliff at the end has me impatiently waiting for the next book.

This didn't work for me at all. The FMC, Cait, was fucking exhausting. Like, a giant whiner who was utterly TSTL, and stubborn about all things. Seriously, when she was kidnapped at the end (due to her most recent fucking stupid action) I put down my kindle and clapped. She is such a whining asshole, hopefully the mate she rejected (but stayed in his pack, because of course she wanted to use him for protection... selfish bitch couldn't even have the decency to leave after rejecting him) throws a parade for the kidnapper, rather than trying to get this asshole back.
The tone of the narrative was pretty YA - whiny stubborn shithead who is utterly self absorbed and is positive she knows better than everyone else - which just added to the ugh.
Will not read onward, because I'd just be rooting for Cait to die and Roman to find someone amazing who is actually his true mate, discovering that Cait was just a weird magical blip of garbage and not his mate at all. Which of course won't happen, so I'm bowing out.

Cait is in Sydney trying to escape from the reality of her life. After her mother died she had set off travelling the world in hopes of finding who she is meant to be and what she is meant to do. In Sydney she is a nanny, but when she meets a fellow at the beach who calls her a witch, and adopts a new birthmark on her wrist. Her best friend of the past four years, who she has never met before and only chatted to online. Buys her a first-class, one-way ticket to where she left. Apprehensive about the whole situation she ends up quitting her job and meeting her best friend for the first time.
Little does she know this decision will change her life as she knows it. As she was human, she is trusted into the supernatural world and everyone expects her to land on her feet. With a strong pull and attraction to the Alpha of the pack, who ends up being the strange fellow from the beach. She feels a pull of what everyone is calling 'fate'. But Cait believes she makes her own fate and wants to leave. However, she needs to stay because she didn't just form a new birthmark, it is a luna mark. Luna marks are incredibly rare and no one really knows what they mean. So she plans to stick around to uncover what it is she is meant to do and what it means to no longer be human.

Wolf Kissed
by Heather Renee
I read a LOT of fantasy. A LOT... But recently I noticed I never read vampire or wolf shifter/ werewolf books. I think it has something to do with Twilight. Please don’t hurt me when I say this but….
I’ve never read the twilight series.
I think mainly because of all of the cringy reviews. Recently, I tried to watch the movies. But once he calls her spider monkey and gives her a flying piggyback through the woods I was DONE.

Ok, that’s a lot of background to explain my lack of reading this genre.
I decided I needed to give the wolves and vamps a fighting chance to enter my heart. So when the opportunity to review Wolf Kissed came around I jumped on it! I mean it sounded great and the cover was very eye-catching.
I only had a small idea I needed wolves in my life. I just didn’t realize how much I would love them!!
When I first opened my Kindle and the first page was in front of my eyes I knew it was going to be good? How you may ask?! The first line. Every book needs a killer opening sentence. Are you ready for it?
“Boobs and abs.”
Yes please, sign me up.

This book did not disappoint. I read this book in less than 24 hours and I stayed up past my bedtime on a work night. That is some high praise for me. From the beginning, it was a nonstop, page-turning adventure. Like horses out of the gate, this book takes off.
Cait is relaxing on the beach when her wrist feels like it gets stung. Enter hottie stage right and BAM She’s mated with this guy who she assumes is a bit of a creeper. From there, things spin out of control pretty quickly for her.
Have no fear, This is not an insta-love trope. Cait may feel the attraction but she is NOT ready to give up her independence for some guy who happens to be smokin hot.
There was some great story building in this book considering it’s not super long.
I really liked Cait and her best friend Embry. They have the kind of friendship all girls should aspire to have.
Roman at first, may seem a little rough. But he really is a stand-up alpha male. He’s never forceful with Cait and has tuns of patience with her. He's an all-or-nothing kind of guy and once he gets over his first hesitation isn't afraid to show his feelings for her.
My only gripe was I would have liked to see a little more interaction between them. A little more getting to know you without something figuratively blowing up in her face. I also wish she would have been a little more open to the idea of getting to know him. I have a feeling that will come in the following books.
Now for my highest praise. This is the first book I’ve read from Heather Renee but it won’t be the last. She has an amazing talent for writing that I could only dream of having. She has a way of writing that changes words on a page into a voice in my head. I never had to think about the words I was reading, it just naturally flowed.
She also has a wonderful sense of humor that had me laughing out loud a few times. I’m really glad I only need to wait a few more months for the next installment.
High five Heather Renee!

Fun world building but the alpha doesn’t come across as very Alpha. Everyone overrules him. He has to constantly remind people he’s the alpha.
