I bought this book because the sprayed pages were pretty when shopping at Target. I thought this was going to be a just another romance with “A Love Story” written on the cover. There is a background love story in there for sure, but this plot is so freaking insane. The fact that a solar flare can bring down the world like this 🤯. I’m so in love with this book and how much it makes me think. So many twists and turns and moments where you hold your breath.

• apocalyptic • contemporary romance • solar flare • crash landing • electrical grid goes down • societal breakdown • a harrowing trek across the USA • second chance • dual POVs •

•This was an engaging apocalyptic romance that takes you from just before (with some backstory on the characters) the solar flare happens to everything after, all in one standalone book. It shows both the good and the bad as a society breaks down, but also showcases how “love finds a way” even in the most dire of times.
•Annalee Scott and Andre Santana’s narration was fantastic.

•My Score 8.5/10•

Childhood best friends separated by life choices and prison get stuck together when the world goes dark. Who do you trust obviously not Tucker according to Emily.

I won’t lie at some point the FMC just grated on my last nerve. She’s the girl who broke the camels back. She was infuriating and childish, and her temper tantrums just did nothing for me as a character. I was ready to kick her off the plane.

I got to 47% and I had had enough of the FMC. I was tired of how she was treating Tucker. I was tired of her whining and crying and just absolutely uselessness. The girl was useless in everything and I hated the fact that she wanted validation in moments I did not need validation. The MMC is better than me at patience and care. I would have left those two behind to fend for themselves. The disrespect and the way they looked down on him, was just too much to handle even for me and this is fiction.

I feel like if maybe the FMC had been soft spoken and really nice throughout the book would’ve been better than her being childish at most. It was too much.

I love Mia Sheridan because of Archers voice. It changed my life. I never thought I would find a character in Mia Sheridan‘s world that I hated more than Travis. Lo and behold I hate Emily more than Travis and Travis was a pretty bad, horrible person. I had so much hope for this book. I even tried to skim the rest of the book and at 51% I stopped. The blurb and the tropes were on point and I expected so much more, but I got absolutely nothing but anger that now I need to like cool off. Maybe I’ll read the book again one day but right now it’s a no
