Tessa Bailey just doesn't let me down. If you pick up one of her books, you should know what you're getting yourself into. (Some of these reviews make me wonder if people just go into her books blind... yikes.) And though many people like her books for all of the spice, it might surprise you to know that I'm most intrigued by her ability to make me care about her characters so damn fast. Give me some tension and that HEA? I'm a happy camper.
This little grumpy/sunshine number was delightful. (Never read a grumpy FMC and it did not disappoint.) It's a really quick read chalk full of holiday spirit and heart.
I'll keep reading whatever this lady puts out.

This was honestly so great! Finished it in one sitting, not hard to do since it’s way under 300 pages. This is my 3rd Tessa Bailey book and she’s now become a auto-buy author for me. Not that she wasn’t before but this just cements that.
After being in a reading slump basically all last year (only read 10 books in 2021, ugh) and after the first book I finish this year being a let down and only getting 2 stars from me, I’m happy that this one was so fun to read.
I love the idea of being a Window Dresser, it sounds so fun and expressive. Honestly, it kinda sounds like my dream job, if I got to read books all day while doing it.
Though I’m not gonna lie, when Stella and Aiden first meet outside the window display and he was asking what she thought, all I could picture was Emma Stone from Cruella, in the scene of her redoing the window display in how she thought it should look. Just had to laughed out loud at myself for that popping into my head.
The characters? I honestly loved both of them cause you can understand both of them. Stella’s feelings of not being good enough and feeling like she doesn’t deserve a second chance and with Aiden feeling like he has to put how he’s feeling aside to make other feel better, basically to be a people pleaser, we’re things I could definitely relate to, so it was nice to see them overcome those thoughts and to seem like they’re actually real people not fictional characters was great.
The plot was really cute actually, I did really enjoy the setting taking place in a department store struggling a week before Christmas and in swoops the main character and things start to change, very hallmark of Tessa Bailey if you ask me but with a lot of spice added.
Which brings us to the spice, not my favorite Tessa’s written but it was spicy, so be warned.
I will say the one downside it how fast everything happened, I know this book is only 248 pages but had we had another 52 pages (making it 300) then maybe the book could’ve started earlier in December instead of 2 weeks before Christmas, then maybe the romance wouldn’t have been as far fetched as them saying their “I love you’s” and Aiden looking at engagement rings on Christmas Eve after only being together for a week. But hey can’t have it all, I guess.
But for what it is, I really enjoyed it and laughed out loud at many parts, like the line on page 174, when Leland says, “It’s finally happening. He’s losing his temper. Get the popcorn.” That just got to me, I laughed embarrassing loud at that scene.

5/5 Christmas Standalone that has characters to root for
This book is a Christmas movie that you watch every year on Netflix. Is it a little cheesy because of how obsessed with each other? Of course, isn’t that why you’re reading it?
The characterization is everything you expect from a Tessa Bailey book and their backgrounds are so well developed that they make you care about Aiden and Stella both individually and together.
It was exactly what I wanted out of a Christmas “rom-com”, a sweet love story, classic Tessa spice

Hmmmmm. The plot is… lacking? The smut is… not lacking? Tessa is trying too hard here. Not a fan of grumpy ex convict who is pretty shallow being swooped up by her bow tie way too kind boss. Signing a love clause so you can smash your VP boss should not be the entire plot of a book.

i was so desperate for a quick, mindless read and this did the job. every page of this book was either too cringey or too unnecessarily sexual, but i guess that’s expected with this kind of book.
This was good! It was short cute Christmas romance a little odd being that she just came straight from prison and was hired on at this fancy clothing place but whatever weirder things have happened
