You like Ted Lasso and dirty, somewhat dom MMC’s? You’ll like this book
Embarrassed to have even finished this (granted I was skim reading from chapter 4). I almost dnf’d it but you know when you’re watching a train crash and you just can’t look away? Yeah…
I found the writing to be cringey, the characters had no development and the plot…. I tried to find it but I just couldn’t see it anywhere.
I took an issue with the main guy almost instantly. She genuinely had some great ideas for his damn shop window and he hired her because… she was pretty? And then he spent the first half of the book wondering how to tell HR he wanted to date someone he was managing because he was very aware about the dubious power imbalance between them.
He knows about her difficult background and instead of helping her start anew he only selfishly cared about his own intentions? Yeah, I just didn’t vibe with that. The idea had the potential to be amazing so it’s a real shame. Also, the insta-love thing made me cringe. Why were they already in love with each other by the third chapter? A bit excessive for me sorry

First of all, how are you thrilled he 'protects you' when he wears a condom the second time you have sex, when he did not do so for the first time?
Anyways. The story itself is super cute and definitely different from other Holidays plots I've read before. I do wish it would have been longer though, to make the progression of feelings more believable. But it's fine, it's fun and quick and has some very fluffy moments.
The not-fluffy moments however. God, I have seldomly read more cringey dirty talk, not to mention the truly awful synonyms used (Trunk????? Why??). It took me so long to get through the steamy parts, because I couldn't stop laugh-cringing. It was just extremely awkward in parts. The buildup was really well done, and I had high expectations. But they were shot down so fast. Points though for explicit consent and everyone making sure to always be in the right headspace.
But overall still...so much cringing.

I could’ve used more story behind these characters and a little slower burn. Not my fave Tessa Bailey but was quick and spicy.

I loved this one. Very very sweet MMC and a lovely FMC! It was a perfect (but late) holiday read. But tbh you could read it anytime it’s not very Xmas-forward. The story line with her friend wrapped up a bit too quickly for me but I loved the overall hopeful feel :)
Cute as hell. Don’t let anyone tell you different.
I don’t know if the author intended me to read Aiden’s voice in Ted Lasso’s voice but it made the steamy parts maybe even better, lol.
