Here we are again, back in the world of Ever and Damen and if you have read the previous books you will remember that the thin “veil” that separates the two in still firmly in place. The curse Roman put on them has been a constant since the end of Blue Moon and they are still suffering through it. And let me just say telling two people who are in love they can’t touch each other at all, or they will die is just cruel. I am just reading it and I am frustrated for them, I am not so sure if I was the two of them I could handle it as well as they are, especially because Ever is a teenager and things get a little crazy at that age so the restraint is quite amazing. But Ever is pressing forward and trying diligently to find a cure without outside help which is seriously hindering her progress. She needs to talk to Roman, but because of the magick that backfired on her she is strangely tied to him and cannot control her emotions when she gets around him. This of course is causing problems for Ever and her friend Haven; because Haven is convinced she is in love with Roman.

While we are on the subject of Haven, let’s talk about her for a moment, I don’t like her. At all, sorry Haven fans. She has always rubbed me the wrong way in all three, well now four, books. I am actually not so sure why Ever hangs out with her so much. In the first book Haven was ok, but as the series has continued she has gotten just plain selfish and inconsiderate of Ever’s feelings. She is always putting herself first and never thinks about the people around her that she is hurting. Ever describes her very well in the book by saying:

“(She) will fight to the absolute death to defend herself- even when she is dead wrong.”

That pretty much sums it up for me, she acts before she gets all the facts and she rarely changes her mind. And now that she is immortal, it looks as though she is going to be a foe rather than a friend to Ever.

Jude is also ever present in this novel and is fighting for Ever’s attention as well. At the beginning the two of them have a little confrontation that I don’t think is meant to be funny but I found it to be hilarious. I don’t want to ruin it so you will have to read it to find out about that one and see if you find it funny like I did. I am also still a little suspicious of him, he is not quite off my list of people to watch out for and his actions at the end of the book just move him further up that list for me. I am not really a fan of him, but only time will tell if my suspicions are warranted or not.

On the positive side we do get to see quite a few happy moments between Ever and Damen that have been quite rare in the last couple of books. They are so cute together and have so many obstacles standing in their path so when we do get a rare glimpse into happy moments I soak them in.

We are left at the end of the book with many questions left unanswered and Ever’s life is still crazy complicated, but I am loving watching the plot unfold. If you have not read any books in this series I highly suggest that you do because it is well worth it and you will fall in love with Ever just as I have.

Language Love:

"Our past may shape us, but it doesn't define who we become."

I picked this one just because I totally agree with that statement. We are who we are because of our past, but it does not control what we become in the future.

Why is the entire plot of this series centered around children desperate to have sex

This amazing series contines with Dark Flame. Alyson Noel has created this amazing world where true love combined with hope and faith can transcend through the tests of time, literally. Just when you think that things cannot possibly get any worse for Ever and Damen well you thought wrong.

One horrible situation after another and they continue to find their way through and strive to come out on top as best they can.

I absolutely adore this series. A high energy and high octane suspensful thrill ride that has me gripping the pages and never wanting the roller coaster to end. There is something about Ever that I can't quiet put my finger on. I love taking the journey with her and feel everything she feels.

The emotional roller coaster that Alyson puts Ever through is heartwrentching. I love the situations and her characters. Definitely a series that I am going to continue to love even when it's over.

If you have not yet picked up this amazing series, then you are missing out on an amazing love story that is tested to the very limits time and again.

Grade: D

Dude. Can this series just END ALREADY???? UGH.

I keep on reading these books and not liking them. But now I have one question. Has Ever ever thought of breaking up with Damen? Then the problem is solved.

HOLY HELL ON A PANCAKE! Once again everytime something good happens something worse happens like straight after. Whats up with that? Like at the end with Roman (i was actually starting to like him right at the end) when Ever was soooooo close to getting the antidote but than Jude (the dumbass) has to come and kill him so They can never get the antidote. There'll probably be a happy ending anyway but still. I think Havens being a major bitch. She had no right to go off a Ever like that. She didn't even stop to listen to what she had to say and she wasn't even grateful that she saved her life. It was seriously sweet at the end how forgiving damen was <3 nawws cute :P

This one picks up right where book 3 left off, but with an annoying continuity issue. The more it goes on, the more I find myself agreeing with other reviewers when they say things like, “Riley is so stupid!” She is frustrating over and over again, and doesn’t seem to learn from her mistakes. This installment … while I will read on for at least one more, wasn’t the most exciting. I feel like this world could be significantly shorter or a couple of fewer books without actually losing anything from the reader experience.

Still, not a bad read and I did want to read on.

3.5 stars.

Note:
The audiobook is a smooth listen, a 5-star performance.

I'm trying my hardest not to give up on series because they are bad, but this one is making it really difficult. Not only is the entire saga redundant, but I just want to rip my hair out because the main character, Ever, keeps making stupid mistakes. I ALMOST wish she was a real person so that I could slap some sense into her, but mankind has enough problems as it is.

As with the last book, I feel like I could've just read the last few chapters and gotten most of the story. This entire series could've been wrapped up in one book (or at least HALF as many books as there are in the series).

This author is definitely going on my "DO NOT READ" list... At least until she finds a
thesaurus, which judging by these four books, will be never.

SUMMARY: SPOILERS AHEAD!

This installment of the Immortals series starts off where the third one left off. Ever is trying to explain to Haven what it means to be immortal. Rather than just telling her all of the details, Ever decides to leave out most of what is really going on. Haven can sense this and gets bored and decides that rather than listening to Ever, she wants to take her new powers for a spin. Since Ever isn’t able to convince Haven to stay away from Roman before they part, she asks her to get the "antidote to the antidote" for her to cure Damen.

Ever tries to reverse the binding spell that she cast on Roman. By casting the spell under the dark moon, she called upon Hecate rather than the goddess, and Ever ends up binding herself to Roman. Romy and Rayne (the twins) tell her that she needs to appeal to the goddess to reverse the spell. The request does nothing but upset Hecate and make the results even worse. Now, Ever cannot seem to resist Roman.

Ever starts to get annoyed by her Aunt Sabine's relationship with her history teacher, Paul Munoz. To escape, Ever decides to go see Roman. However, just outside the door of where Roman got Haven her job, Ever runs into Jude. This (along with the ouroboros tattoo) convince her that Jude is part of Roman's gang. Ever decides that she is going to prove that Jude is evil by stabbing him in the arm with her athame. When he starts bleeding profusely, she realizes that she made a mistake and will have to earn back his trust.

Damen and Ever invite Haven over to Damen's place to talk about the immortal situation again. Haven is already upset by the fact that Damen only gave her seven bottles of Elixer, but she lets out her feelings about Ever ditching her friends after Damen came along. Ever changes her mind about Haven getting the antidote from Roman because it is too dangerous. Ever and Damen go to Summerland, where Ever feels the affects of the spell fade away.

Ever has every intention of going to help Jude, but stops at Roman's on the way. She asks for the antidote, but Roman refuses. As they are talking, Roman starts touching her and she does nothing to stop it. Haven finds them together and is not happy about it. Ever runs to Jude for help on her Roman problem. She explains how she can't let Damen know because it's too embarrassing. Jude is slightly offended by the remark, but agrees to help.

Ever and Damen go to say their final farwells to Miles before he leaves for Italy, but Roman is there as well. Miles already knows that Ever and Haven are fighting, but refuses to get in the middle, including letting Ever and Damen know how much Haven told him. Eventually, he spills, and Haven kept the secret. Roman and Damen get into an argument about where Miles should go to see art in Italy. During the entire situation, Ever cannot stop thinking about Roman. She decides that she needs to tell Damen what is going on, but can't seem to get the words out. She asks him to go to Summerland with her so that she can explain (since the spell doesn't affect her there), but Damen refuses. Ever goes alone and runs into Ava, who she is not keen on listening to.

Back at work, Ever continues looking for answers. Jude tries to help, but nothing is really accomplished. In the end, Ever takes Jude to Summerland and heals him. She lets him spend all of the time he wants manifesting, which includes his perfect surfing wave. Ever sends Jude into the Hall of Knowledge to get some answers for her. While waiting, Ever takes a trip while Jude is preoccupied and finds a wasteland in Summerland. Jude tells her that it's complicated and that's when she sees Damen watching them. Jude leaves Summerland and Ever goes walking. She finds the people that watched over Romy and Rayne (who says their personalities are opposite from what Ever knows). Ever finds signs of Riley in the girls' room.

Ever goes to see Damen and he realizes that there is something really wrong with Ever. Rather than letting him see what is going on, she runs from him. However, she finds that she is not able to manifest or keep the things she has already made. She runs to Roman's and throws herself at him. At first, Roman refuses, but Ever makes herself look like Drina (whom Roman loved). Haven shows up and sees that it is Ever and freaks out on her.

Ever goes back to the store and finds that Jude has circled a calendar day for her to perform her reversal spell while Hecate is rising. Ever performs the spell and it seems to quash her desire for Roman.

Damen gives Ever "the Pavillion" for her birthday. This is a place where they can either watch or re-live all of their romantic encounters. Somehow, Damen was able to work his magic on this place so that the two of them can actually touch while reliving their lives. After such a happy time together, Ever dreads going to her birthday party. Haven is there with Roman. Ever ends up talking with Ava, starting the forgiveness process. Ever ends up talking with Sabine at the end of the night and they seem to be on better terms. Just before her birthday is over, Ever finds a card from Roman, saying that he'll give her the one thing she wants most, but the offer expires at midnight.

Ever rushes over to Roman's to get the antidote for Damen. As it turns out, the "dark flame" that is crazy Ever, still resides inside her. She tells Roman that she wants the antidote, and Roman tells her that he is moving back to London. Roman wants Ever to tell the truth about what she really wants, so he comes up with a test. Ever tries to answer the question that Roman asks, but the flame erupts and she's all over Roman in an instant, with him calling her Drina. Ever focuses on her heart chakra to be able to bring the flame under wraps and knees Roman to end the romance of their encounter. Roman says that he won't give her the antidote now.

Ever runs away to Summerland. She finds the bridge to cross over. Jude finds her there and takes her to Ava for help. Ava is able to teach her some techniques to keep everything in check. She then comes clean with Damen about what has been going on. Miles calls from Italy and tells Ever that they need to talk when he gets back because he took some pictures of Damen in paintings.

After a lot of training, Ever decides to go to the Hall of Knowledge to see if she is allowed to enter again. She goes in and finds out what she needs to know about Roman: he had a hard childhood that was void of love. She goes to him to let him know that she understands. Roman agrees to give Ever the antidote if she shows Roman where Drina is. As she is showing him, Jude breaks in, thinking that Ever has gone off of the deep end again. He kills Roman by hitting his weakest chakra, destroying Roman and the antidote in the same hit. Haven comes home to find them over Roman's ashes and swears her revenge.

Not the best in the series... kind of a blah book.
