I just finished reading this book and I really enjoyed it! I think what I liked best was it's simplicity! Sawyer Bennett did a lovely job creating and resolving conflicts quickly so the story was not long and drawn out. I loved her character development and how she shifts perspectives between both leading characters. The characters were believable, likable and had depth. In so many young adult romance books you find characters that don't have any adult thoughts/concepts. I will quickly pick up any of this author's other books. Overall this book was refreshing and enjoyable.
2 Stars
I went in open-minded thinking OOO we are going to get a sports romance YES!
I feel sad, he might have been a sports guy but we didn’t get any actual hockey scenes. :(
I kind of felt like I have read this book before over and over again it was all very predictable. Not to say it wasn’t good it just wasn’t unique.
I guess I just wanted something more.
I enjoyed the narration!

Second listen and I liked it better this time until that last 1/3rd. Then it went down hill.
Lots of eye rolling, I felt like we had enough drama but nope author thought we needed more.
I don't know if people think New Adult means drama or what but that's how this one went down.
Looking forward to the next book I have high hopes!
I still really like the narration.

This book is really out here trying to solve classism through one week old true love. These are the kids who loved Romeo and Juliet and understood the assignment.

HEA:
Ryan and Danny are from two different worlds. Ryan is a Congressman’s son and the captain of the university’s hockey team. Danny works in a diner struggling to pay
The premise, although unoriginal, was good. Who doesn't love a Cinderella type story. But unfortunately this book just did not execute it well. An idea or basic plot does not work well if there is no evidence to back it up. There was something missing throughout the story for me..
One of the main issues I had in this book was the instant love. And I am talking about they have known each other for less than a week and they are basically saying I love you to each other. At that point we don't know much about them and they don't know much about each other. Once again it is a book where we are told and not shown that the characters have a connection and are in love. What would be great is if we learned with them and saw over time how much they love each other.
Another issue is that there didn't seem to be much substance to the book. And by that I mean that there are a lot of things that are talked about in the book but we don't see much evidence to show us. For instance Ryan plays hockey and is the captain of the team. But we barely see him playing or doing anything to further his dream to be a professional hockey player. For something so important you would think we would read more about it.
Just like with the hockey is Danny’s music. At the beginning it made sense but later on I don't know why it wasn't included more. Since she was working hard to be able to go back to you would think that we would hear more about it or that once she got that it would be incorporated more.
The same goes for Ryan’s family and world. We only really see Danny in Ryan’s world once. The other encounters are just with Ryan’s mother. If it is so important that it is part of the book description I expect it to be a larger part of the book. I also expect to meet the congressman father.
Another aspect that did not work for me was the drama just for drama’s sake. The addition of the unrealistic Angeline and Ryan’s mother was not needed. People don't become rich and powerful like they implied by being outright bitches. If you think realistically, when they are so concerned with public perception then they would not be that horrible in public. That is more for Angeline but I would think that Ryan’s mother would be better at being a subtle bitch.
The other main drama that was added was the. This is not a light subject matter and if you are going to add something like this into a book it really needs to be done well. What it can't be is just a couple of pages of drama to add conflict later in the book. Even though the douche had talked to Danny once does not create enough of a reason for this to be in the book. And it was obviously just a plot device to give Angeline and Ryan’s mom more reason to be bitches later.
There were more things that I did not like but they were not as big or are related to the above issues. I have read several books with this general plot line and they were done better. The idea is obviously solid because there are so many books with it. But the execution fell short in this case for me.

We’ve only known each other a few days but there is not a doubt in my mind that I am going to give my virginity to Ryan. I just don't know when it will be. Like Ryan, I am savoring the anticipation and I figure we will both know when we just can't stop the momentum. When the time comes...I’ll be so ready. I’m all grown up now and I am with someone that completely rocks my world.

This was a decent read. Ryan and Danny were likable characters and had good chemistry. The pace was a bit too fast though. After the first date they were practically ready to give up everything for each other and be together forever. It was a short book, so I kind of expected it to move along quickly, but considering they were strangers in the beginning it was pretty unbelievable.
