This book was….weird. I didn’t love it but I also didn’t hate it. The concept of the alternate personalities was cool, but idk it was very hard to follow and keep up with. I also didn’t get enough of Arlo and Lowell. There was also way too much sexual tension before Zaden and Cadoc for them not to fuck at least once. And the fact that until the very end they still said they hated one another bothers me.

Well, this book was a complete mindf*ckery. I've never read anything like this before and I'm having a difficult time writing a review that doesn't give anything away. So really … just hold on to your seats! Very dark and incredibly unique, the story has an ‘end of the world’ feel to it. All the main characters (and there are a good number of them) are struggling just to stay alive in small human settlements where most everything is dirty: the living conditions, the people, and their thoughts. It is impossible to figure out who could be trusted. Halfway through the book I still had no idea about the characters’ true intentions. Allegiances changed at a moment's notice, bringing heartbreak with them. The first two MCs you meet are Cadoc and Zaden. They watch out for each other only because of their shared tragic history … while hating to be in each other life for the same reason. War is coming, each settlement wants something from the others and their leaders are at each others' throats. To survive, Cadoc and Zaden must trust each other while they both try to rely on the new people in their lives. Adding to the circle of characters, are a germophobic but brilliant inventor, a mercenary feared by all, a ‘shadow’ who talks in riddles, and a kidnapped girl. Nordika masterfully twisted their stories together til the shocking end. Pay careful attention to the TWs, this story is DARK and I don’t use that word lightly.
TW (might contains spoilers):
Spoiler This is an MM dark romance with a touch of MF sprinkled in. Psychological themes, dub-con, non-con, captive situations, violence, harmful thoughts, drug use, drinking, smoking, blood, abuse, mental health, grief, traumatic past.

So 𝐀𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐀𝐫𝐥𝐨 by 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐤𝐚 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 is GWLBWLB Book Club’s February pick. I highlighted SO MANY parts, y’all.

❣️ Dark and twisted as fffffff. Dystopian. TW galore. Multiple couples…Kinda.

What the ever loving fluck did I just read? This was a complete mindfluck of epic proportions. The characters: Arlo Thorne, Cadoc Dire, Zaden Enge, Finnegan Ravish, Lowell Brandish, Keiran (no last name)…all have unique and complicated and important roles in the story. Sooooo many twists and relationships and deceit.

Cadoc/Zade. Zade/Finn. Cadoc/Keiran. These were the realationships that held my attention the most, sorry Lowell. My girl was tough but nothing beat my guys.

I’m not going into details because any detail will give it all away. This story isn’t easy. It’s dark and depraved and raw. Theirs non consent and death and so much trauma. It’s wicked and brutal and sadly realistic.

I wouldn’t necessarily call this one a romance. It definitely has love but no romance. It’s a bit disturbing and completely unorthodox. You’ll have to suspend reality a bit or picture yourself in the world to relate to this one. But it’s worth it.

I took half a star off because of Lowell’s part of the story. I know why it’s there but I feel like e wouldn’t have lost much without it. I would’ve rather gotten Arlo’s POV.

This book was delightful. I went in very very very blind with no clue except that there was MM in it. This book excelled on all counts. I loved Cadoc and Zade and Kei and Finn... The way it was written you couldn't help but want them to get their happy endings as twisted as they were. I loved the dystopian twist to everything that happened though I kind of wish we got more of it and more of an explanation. I do want to make sure people check their triggers.. there are many things that could be triggering but this book is amazing!!!

This was definitely not what I was expecting, dark and a bit messy and confusing, but a captivating story.
