Lachlan found Lyla aka De-lil-ah way too easy. I feel like the angst of that scenario could have been prolonged and we could have delved a little deeper into the past as well as into the three years she was MIA but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

DEAR GOD i think I finally found my first 6 star book 😭‼️ I’m completely obsessed with Lyla and Lochlone’s story. I was hooked from beginning to end and best believe I balled my eyes out when we figure out her backstory about why she’s so closed off with people and doesn’t get too attached to anyone other than her best friends. I’m so glad that she was able to get her justice and that the fucker who ruined her and other peoples lives is gone for good. My thoughts are everywhere atm so writing them out is gonna take too long lol but this is a book I will forever recommend to people and make sure to check tw !

Talk about an emotional rollercoaster 😭 Claire may be one of my Insta but authors now because…woah. Until I Get You is the dark hockey romance I didn’t know I needed. When Lilah, our elusive FMC with an incredibly dark past, catches the attention of their college hockey star Lockland Duke they both fall hard. After endless tragedies Lilah finally opens herself up to love, but when her demons catch up with her she disappears to save the man she loves. Three years later Lockland finally tracks down the love of his life to get her back and get his revenge. Lilah’s backstory is incredibly dark and heartbreaking, but the love she shares with Lockland was pure gold. This story was tense, mysterious, and completely gut wrenching in the best way. My first read from Claire Contreras and I can’t wait to read more!

I picked this one up because it was a sports romance. I was also curious about it being a romantic suspense.
Lochlan is a hockey player who is a shoo in for the NHL. He meets Lyla who wears oversized clothes and claims to hate people. He is persistent to get her.
She then disappears for 3 years and he is on the hunt to find her. He won’t let her go again.
Who is this person that has caused so much pain to Lyla? Why does she feel they need to completely change who she is?
This book contained so much more than just a sports romance. There are darker elements so make sure to read all the TW. I loved the support system that Lyla has. Her friendships are relationships that anyone would be lucky to have. I also really liked Lyla and Lochlan’s relationship. He is possessive, but written really well.

Part One of Until I Get You takes place in their last semester of their respective senior years in college. Lachlan is a star hockey player, known for women falling at his feet, and never really having to try too hard, if at all, to get the girl. Until he meets Lyla one night at a party he doesn't even want to be at, and she shares the same sentiment. Lachlan is immediately drawn to Lyla, unexplainably so, and begins to chase a girl for the first time in his life.
That is until one of his teammates (who is also one of Lylas best friends) lets him know that theres more to her than meets the eye when he can't help but ask questions & want to know more about her after their first encounter. You can definitely feel the spark between them, it jumps off the pages (much to both of their attempts to deny it).
Lachlan is so incredibly caring towards Lyla in all ways, and definitely when it comes to the spice in this book. I would rate it a 3/5 🌶️, it's more about the connection they share than the overall dirtiness yanno?
The book is separated into two parts: the first centered around their last few months in college, before shit hits the fan and Lylas past comes back to haunt her, and ruin what she has with Lachlan before it can even really get off the ground.
Part two of Until I Get You takes place three years later.
I definitely did not see the time jump coming, that's for sure. But this is another book where you can't really go in depth with detail in a review without spoiling the whole thing. I will say I definitely enjoyed Part One of the book more than Part Two, hence my rating. I found the second half a little taxing to get through but overall I'm glad I read the book!
