This sophomore novel in the Fallen Angels series is much darker than its predecessor, and it certainly doesn't disappoint. I really like the whole good vs. evil premise to these books. There are some tough scenes, but I think they highlight Jim's internal struggle with how to process all the crazy things that have happened to him in such a short time span. I'll definitely be reading more of this series.

Enjoyed so much about book 2 in the series. Loved Isaac and Grier. Thought the story, pacing, everything flowed well, and I finished the book wanting more, especially hints about who the next soul will be, maybe someone from Sissy's family?

The one thing that bothers me - the rules. I don't understand how Nigel can go on and on for a entire chapter about the rules, they can't be broken, blah blah, but they are broken. I'm sure (and hope) consequences will be coming to the rule breakers, but it just seems like Devina especially plays by her own set and at the risk of sounding like a 4 year old, that's not fair!

The BDB snipet at the end...I think I'm going to love me some Manny!

I decided to give this one a try even though I felt sort of "meh" about the first book, "Covet." I like Wards' writing style, but there is SO much going on in this series that I can barely keep track. There is the overall heaven/hell good vs. evil battle between angels and demons, the para-military black ops background conflict, then there is the romance/erotic story. I didn't really like most of the characters, they just felt sort of stock. Some of the secondary players are interesting, but they didn't ultimately have much to do. I can't see where the series is going, and I guess I don't really care enough.

I'm slowly getting into this series but it's not instant love. Isaac was a real hero for me and I really liked his story with Grier. And the plot slowly thickens between the angels and the demons. All in all, a pretty good read

I was willing to give [a:J.R. Ward|20248|J.R. Ward|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1277535248p2/20248.jpg]'s Fallen Angels another try even though I wasn't crazy about [b:Covet|6289920|Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1)|J.R. Ward|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1275616232s/6289920.jpg|6474277]. But I have come to the conclusion that this series is just a mess. There are too many people and plots in play. The story is constantly jumping around and never settles into a rhythm. There is no development of the characters who are supposed to be the focus of this novel, so I couldn't really get invested in their story. It really falls prey to all the worst romance novel cliches where those characters are concerned. While I still love her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, it seems like Ward's other endeavors are just not well done (exhibit 1: [b:Leaping Hearts|301535|Leaping Hearts|Jessica Bird|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1266518937s/301535.jpg|292599]). So my new rule with her is going to be that if it doesn't involve a Brother I'm not reading it.

I liked this one so much better than the first book. The characters seemed to have more depth than in Covet. I liked the interaction between Jim, Adrian, and Eddie. The relationship between Grier and her father and also between Grier and Isaac was very believable. I found myself routing for Isaac even while knowing that he was technically a murderer.

I am looking forward to reading the next book.

Better than the first one in this series. I think it'll keep getting better...

I did like this better than the first. I feel like the author realised the faults in the previous and worked to not have that here. I do plan on reading the next in the series. I think I will be going one book at a time though, not gonna try and get all of them. Might have a change of heart with any one of the series.

I get the feeling all of the books in this series will be a little slow to start, because each book is going to have to introduce the new characters for each mission.
I think this one was a little lax. It seemed like Jim and his friends were doing a whole lot of nothing. Isaac and Grier very much overshadowed the fact this was a fallen angel themed story. I felt like I was reading a love story between a military man and a lawyer with very little else going on.
Adrian had a lot of character growth since the first book. The time difference was only a few days, so that's some pretty fast change, but I like his character a bit more now than I did in the first book. I kind of hate them abbreviating his name as Ad, though. That just sounds so dumb to me.
Unlike the first book, I didn't notice any subtle crossovers with the BDB series in this one. They might have been there. If they were, I couldn't tell. I don't care if they are there or not, I just keep an eye out for them.

***SPOILER WARNING***

I'm baffled at how big of a mistake the angel team made. Early in the book, I think it was Eddie, said he had gotten the info on who their next target was, from Nigel. How in the...Did Nigel lie to them? Was he extremely Vague? Did he not even bother giving them an actual name? It's ridiculous. How is it not in the rules for Jim to be aware of whom he is supposed to be saving?
They said Devina cheated. Is there going to be no punishment? If cheating won't be punished, why do the rules matter at all?
I hope some of this stuff gets cleared up in the next book, otherwise there are a lot of things that don't make sense.
