I feel like the romance between the two characters were not fleshed out properly. There was barely a time for them to know each other then they fell in love unknowingly. Di man lang nabuild up yung romance ante???

The world-building is not that good for me because the characters rely on telling the history. I had to google the cards many times (their magic and the number of cards). Information overload realnezz!!

The plot twist is expected from the start. I was not shocked when it was revealed because I have a hunch
that the *thing* and the *other thing* were just the same

I struggled a bit to get into but after I got sucked in, I had a hard time putting it down.

The magic system is a bit complicated and very different. I thought it was original.

The romance is more a sub plot so perfect for those looking mostly for fantasy with a side of romance! Very mild.

It has been so long since I've read a book that had me this invested. Ravyn and Elspeth have my whole heart.

Rachel Gillig has such a way with words. I found myself immersed in this richly woven world filled with dark magic and complex characters that you immediately start caring about. I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the entire read, with some predictable plot twists, but also some truly thrilling twists that I could not see from a mile away.

This book is a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy with a dark twist and some romance elements.

Holy. Okay. The plot was EVERYTHING. First & foremost. Just wow. I loved everything about how the world worked. The characters were so well written & the relationships between them all just melded so well together. I LOVEEE Elspeth so freaking much & the mannerisms between her & RAVYN - gaaaahhhh. Chapter 27 - that's all. Just GAH. Please read. So well done. Ended on such a strong cliff-hanger just having me itch for the next book. So so so well done!

It’s been a long time since I devoured a book like this. I inhaled this. Coming upon a truly beautiful writing style, intentional world building, and interesting characters all in one…*chef’s kiss* I can’t wait to read more.
