2.5?

Weirdly, Brambleclaw is the only one comparing himself to Hawkfrost. He keeps wondering if anyone trusts or likes him when no other cat has made any of these comparisons or claims. No one called him similar to Tigerstar and no one is calling him similar to Hawkfrost yet it seems to be the driving force of this book/these characters.

It seems like they set Brambleclaw back just so they can give him a development arc. He used to be so much more sure of himself and now he questions everything he thinks, says, and does. The more the story progresses the more backwards he goes.

I don't understand why Leafpaw refuses to tell the other med cats she is getting signs from StarClan. All the other cats are upset because they think they have abandoned them, yet she is over here with a prophecy. Same thing with Brambleclaw, he got that special dream too.

The whole thing between Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw is just childish and frankly annoying.

I don't understand why Brambleclaw felt like it was his responsibility to deal with Mudclaw all of a sudden. What was the point?

I don't think this one was terrible, but it definitely left a lot to be desired. All the "big events" were either forced or made no sense. It had a few redeeming qualities, but not enough.

Tallstar's death is the only thing I remember from this book and the only highlight I can remember ... and I just finished it. This one was boring and nothing really happens, there is a bunch of arguing because every clan wants more, they explore around the lake which is okay and Onestar becomes a leader, though he is still Onewhisker here and a decent cat, in the next book we get Onestar or Trashstar and I can't wait for the butchering of his character to happen.

Overall this one was my least favourite one of the series. It's just so boring and nothing really happens. It's just ... there to push the story forward.

Oh and Bramblestar starts meeting Hawkfrost and Tigerstar in his dreams and Squirrelflight doesn't like that so we see the beginning of their relationship drama. I love her with Ashfur and I honestly wish that they stayed together instead of her being with Brambleclaw, at least they aren't constantly fighting and have a normal relationship.

Also Leafpaw is suddenly in love with Crowfeather and that happens over night, they talk a few times, he saves her life and bam they are so madly in love that they want to run away together - I am sick and tired of the shallow romances that happen over night.

Also Mudclaw's rebellion happens in this book I think and it's all right. Though Mudstar would've been an interesting leader and I wish that they kept him alive.
