This story was a rollercoaster of emotions. It was sad, gut wrenching, hopeful, dark, spicy and so much more. I was conflicted, but could then understand it from a different point of view and I could appreciate the author showing just how messy life can be. Like I said, rollercoaster🎢.
Damon is rough around the edges, and is hiding some secrets, but the love he has for his childhood sweetheart, Connie, is felt so deeply. Emma is the woman they hired to be the surrogate of the baby they have been trying to conceive for years. Unfortunately tragedy strikes and everyone’s life is flipped upside down.

I have to say this second book in The Level series is definitely a very emotional ride. The beginning of the book is heartbreaking 💔, the middle is filled with anger 😡, sadness 😪, and some truth 💣 comes out about Emma's past life and Connie's murder, and the end had me jumping up and down on my bed when certain people finally opened their eyes on what was right in front of them the whole time.
I love the spicy scenes between Damon and Emma. When they finally give into their feeling it was so hot 🔥 🥵 . I could hear Damon's British accent growl when he said, "You're so greedy, Spitefire, but oh so f*cking good. My c*ck 🍆 was made to pound this sweet 😻." The flity words that would come out of this man's mouth would make any woman's panties 💦💦.
I also love the mafia plot to the story too. You were able to keep hooked on the story with trying to find out why someone was after them. There is plenty of action, drama, and spicy scenes to make the story go smooth. I can't wait to read the next book in The Level series.

Damon is cop that toes the line of good cop bad cop. His main focus is his marriage with his wife Connie. They were high school sweethearts who are struggling to have a baby. They have come to the decision it is time to hire a surrogate. This is where they meet Emma who is a struggling law student in debt trying to afford schooling and stay hidden from her past. They are all so excited when she gets a positive pregnancy test until the tragic murder of Connie. What will happen now?
First let me say when I started this book I expected mafia/cop romance. I was absolutely not prepared for the emotional rollercoaster this book took me on!!! I had a love hate relationship with Damon through most of the book.He finally won me over after some work in the end! I loved Emma and of course Harrison. There are so many great characters in this story who you get to know more and more throughout each book in the series.
This book will suck you in and have you finishing it in one day (ok maybe that was just me 😂) I had to do family things yesterday afternoon so I did take a break for a couple hours which in return had me awake till 1:30 this morning finishing it.
I can’t wait for the next book in the series and to see where the stories take the guys next!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK
This is a story of love, loss, revenge and found family.
The characters complex, none of them feel like space fillers and are connected in ways you don't expect. This is the second of the series but definitely can be read as a standalone or in whichever order you want!
And the spice... worth the wait
