Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I really enjoyed this book. It was a fun, lighthearted horror about what happens when a suburban housewife becomes possessed. It also had a commentary on motherhood and adult female friendships which was unexpected but really appreciated. Suburban Hell was such a fun read that kept me coming back to it. I actually got sucked in to the point I actually jumped when someone came up behind me which doesn’t happen often anymore. If you are interested, I’d recommend giving this book a shot. And check in on your friends. They just might need you to perform an exorcism!

This was a thrilling and fun read. About a fun suburban place and all the stuff that happens there (HOA/politics/mommy stuff).. but what when one of a sweet friend group decides to do some digging in the garden and digs up something very bad? I really loved seeing how things got darker and darker and also see them go from unbelievers to WHAT THE HECK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO to Just move? Or should we stay? to OK, Let's go. I loved reading about the various characters that lived in this suburban place and get to know them more. The MC was a really fun one and I am happy we could follow the events through her eyes.
Oh, and I am sorry to the hubby but I thought he was cheating (there were enough signs) .
The ending was epic, I didn't expect that, but I guess I could. Still bonus to that!
All in all, this was a ride!

This book was straight camp horror and I LOVED it. It had a bit of a slow start, and I do have concerns regarding some of the more contemporary references in the book that could make it hard to come back to later, but ultimately I really loved the writing style and the charm that the characters and setting share.
Some of the analogies were a bit repetitive towards the mid-section of the book where things really picked up in pace, but I loved the overarching comparisons between the MC’s sister and what she was facing with her friend.
Very cool, would recommend it to anyone looking for something a little more lighthearted. I’d compare it to the show Good Girls!

Graphic: Alcohol
Just be aware that there is a LOT of casual alcoholism in this book.
4 stars to Suburban Hell, a fun possession story that would be a perfect read for fall.
•
This book was a blast to read and I think it would make for a really fun movie. Three women who became friends in suburbia must figure out a way to get their fourth friend back from the darkness that has possessed her before everything truly goes to hell.
•
I loved the focus on female friendships and motherhood in this book, it wasn’t heavy handed, but in a good balance with the horror aspects. I’m also all about moms being the protagonists in books-it usually makes it a fun read for me. It gave me My Best Friends Exorcism vibes, but if they were about 20 years older, drove mini vans and planned school carnivals.
•
I really liked all the main characters, especially Amy who is trying to figure out who she is beyond being just a mom, I could definitely related. I liked that each character was unique and well developed.
•
I definitely recommend this one-it’s a great fast paced possession story with great characters and will keep you hooked until the end.
