Love this book!! Didn’t even feel like YA.
Also I really wished Simon kept his power.

Amazing book. At first I was sceptical because it is supposed to have been a Drarry fanfiction and I thought it might be too leaned on the Harry Potter storyline. But I got surprised and it wasn’t. I loved baz, and I always found it funny when they said „Simon says“ because of that game we played in middle school.

Empecé este libro sin saber muy bien lo que esperar. Sabía que era una especie de fanfic de Harry Potter con un toque humorístico y no tenía muy claro si eso me atraía o me echaba para atrás.

Cuando lo empecé, pensé: “ok, this is not for me”.

throughly enjoying reading YA novels excused as getting me back into reading
funnily enough i still really love simon and baz as much as i did when i was younger rip 2017 Ella you would have loved drarry fanfiction
i don’t think this is the peak of fiction by any means but it fulfils it’s purpose perfectly and i do want to read the sequel eventhough it really doesn’t need one so there’s that

I love Rainbow Rowell's writing style. Fangirl became one of my favorite books and I was looking forward to this book. I must say that it was good but there were certain things that made it less enjoyable. It definitely had a fan fiction-feel which is to be expected but there was too much telling rather than showing in the beginning. I feel like I can't be too hard on her because the first 7 books don't exist so recalling events was one of her only options. Maybe having more flashbacks would have been more effective. Having Baz absent in Book 1 was annoying but it paid off as it progressed.

This story found a way to exist in parallel to Harry Potter and still keep my interest which is a feat. The world of mages is so robust and there is so much she could expand upon and tel more stories in that world which is exciting.

I loved the characters. I feel that they were written well and relatable. The relationship between Simon and Baz was adorable and I was rooting for them hard.

I will continue reading books from Rainbow; she is becoming a fav author of mine.

Pretty much what I expected. I wish it had been gayer. Guess I gotta read the sequel!

Words have power

I don't want to accidentally slip into spoilers, so I'll just say this - I love this magic system so much, it makes my brain buzz with POSSIBILITIES
A great reading experience, a heartbreaking story and wonderful characters.
And now all is left is to carry on...

Would it be sacrilegious to say that I actually like Simon Snow better than Harry Potter? Because it might just be true.

I went into this story knowing a little about Simon and Baz and already loving them as characters. To see them and their world so fully fleshed out was awesome and I would really love if Rainbow went back and wrote the first seven years of Baz and Simons adventures because I want to know every detail!!

Told in alternating points of view, this is Rainbow Rowell’s take on the whole “Chosen One” story and I have got to say that despite (or maybe because of) all the similarities to Harry Potter, she has a unique and different take on what it means to be thought of as the Chosen One.

Without spoiling anything I have got to say that this story has various twists and turns, some of which I saw coming and some that I did not, and best of all the absolute reality of the ending got me right in the feels and makes me super excited to read the second book which is due out later this year.

So yeah. Five stars. It was just that good.

Harry potter but it’s gray and understandable. Penelope is the best character and my beloved. Enemies to lovers, pining and angst.
