If the title Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them was still available, it would be perfect for this book full of dazzling illustrations. A combination of fantastical zoo and mythological atlas, I could have spend many hours with this book as a kid.

I really enjoyed this. A nice mix of familiar and less well known myths from round the world, I particularly loved the stories from Asia with the Kurage-No-Hinotama, fiery glowing jellyfish that float in mid air and the terrible nine tailed fox from Korea, the Kumiho! What really lifts this book however, are the absolutely beautiful illustrations, vivid and vibrant they add so much to the text. A wonderful book.

Mythopedia's illustrations are utterly gorgeous, the bright colour palette used and the full page spreads are reason enough to give this book a read.
A great non-fiction book for children about some lesser known mythical creatures and the legends that accompany them.
Thanks to Laurence King publishing for an advanced copy of Mythopedia.

This book is absolutely gorgeous!!!! It shares stories about various mythological creatures from around the world. The thing that sells this book, though, is the art. It is positively stunning!
If you like myths and learning, then this book is perfect for you.
Mythopedia has a collection of monsters and myths hidden within it's pages, with lore you probably haven't heard before. I learned a lot of new mythical creatures I hadn't been acquainted with before, so I truly enjoyed reading this book. I think it's a great resource and many young, curious readers will enjoy it.
Four out of five stars.

From the West African fable of Anansi the Spider, to Tanuki, the sweet but troublesome racoon-dog of Japanese folklore, this encyclopedia of mythical creatures covers legends, tales and myths from around the world.
Covering the world when it comes to the tales in this book, Mythopedia certainly reads as a child friendly collection of stories from mythology that are pleasure to read. From the Grootslang of South Africa to the Pegasus from Ancient Greece this book crosses continents and never stops being an interesting read.
These stories combined with the incredible artwork are a sight to behold. The art ties in beautifully and represents these mythical creatures perfectly. The chinese Qilin from myth and the art work for Anansi have such impact in this book however throughout the art is captivating and beautifully portrays each creature in the book - really just look at the art in this book, it’s incredible.
Though I think for a child it may seem wordy in places, this is a beautiful book that tells the stories perfectl accompanied by such sophisticated artwork. If you’re looking for something for a child about mythology they want to keep forever, this is the book for you.

The illustrations within this book are beyond beautiful. The facts and stories drew me in. I saw others reading this book and enjoying it. I can see why, this book was food for the eyes. I would definitely read more by the authors. This book was very informative and I learnt about mythical creatures that I had never heard off and got more information on those creatures that I did know about. Would highly recommend this to people of all ages.
