there was not enough of a plot. The narrator was okay, but the diary-style writing made it repetitive and annoying-”I said”  “She said” etc.

I really liked the relationship between the sisters. The length of the book didn't seem warranted, as the story definitely lost some steam.

It took a bit to actually go anywhere plot-wise, but more frustrating was that the narrator supposedly grew up into her teen years (by page 104) but the somehow still sounded like it was being written by an elementary schooler. Also I think the author had a bet going or something about how many expletives she could fit in this book

The only reason I made it through this entire book was because I had somehow convinced myself that if I DNF'd, that surely I'd miss something worth reading. I was incorrect.
In the end, I have nothing but issues with this book.

The title is misleading, we don't get enough current-day perspective for anything in the book to "matter," the narrator makes my skin crawl, and the writing style is so stilted that there's literally zero emotion in anything. I'm also the biggest hater of the romantic aspect of this book - Why was it even necessary?

Cringe from start to finish.

This book was so good! Death and grieving is do different for everyone and I believe this author really brought to light the different processes. I also love how the author highlighted the fact that was someone passes people tend to memorialize the person as if that person never did anything wrong in their life. This was a great read!
