Olivia and Carter. This romance was definitely cute at times and spicy. Carter is an absolute fuck boy in the beginning and as Olivia plays hard to get he realizes he wants to change and likes her for more than her body. It’s kind of putting many women’s dreams into writing and I did like that part of it. Carter is a famous and rich hockey player and Olivia is his friend and teammate’s girlfriend’s best friend. Carter’s family is so funny and sweet. Some of Olivia’s insecurities became a repetitive issue for them and that was a bit annoying. Too close to real life maybe? This book also was quite long and I usually love long romances. I found myself wanting it to wrap up. The pacing felt a bit on the slower side. I will be reading the next book in the series.

While I liked this one, there were some parts that were so cringe. Which I usually expect and am okay with in romances, but a couple parts of this were almost too much. As cute and lovable as Carter was most of the time, “sword of thunder” almost did me in. I also feel like the third act conflict didn’t make alot of sense? I don’t mind the miscommunication trope when it’s a complicated issue to fix, but Carter literally just had to say “no I didn’t cheat on you” and they could have solved their problems better. They still would have stuff to resolve, but her trust wouldn’t be so broken, if that makes sense.
Overall I liked the book, and am excited to see where the rest of the series goes. I’m especially excited about Adam’s book. He deserves a good love story, because his ex was a heinous bitch.

This book felt like I was 14 reading a story on Wattpad that was also written by a 14 year old! Not great at all

It honestly makes me mad how long this was because it would easily have been 4/5 stars if it were an appropriate length. A good story that was very poorly executed. It was just so repetitive and boring. A 20 hour audiobook is almost NEVER necessary or warranted. I LOVE Alex Kydd which is the reason I listened to this and he did not disappoint.
