Would never recommend this, the hockey terminology was used in such a cringe way and the romance was too insta-lovey. Olivia at the beginning was totally different from how she is once her and Carter get together and it was sooooo annoying

DID NOT FINISH: 74%

I wanted so much to like this book, after all the good things people have told me. I wasn’t invested at all though and I couldn’t connect with Carter or Olivia. The plot just felt so dragged on and I didn’t think there was a lot of chemistry between them either.

Also the descriptions of Olivia and calling her small or petite every chapter got really annoying.

Okay this story was a rollercoaster for me… considering most of the time I think I hated it and was only pushing through to get to the second book… but I also liked it a lot?!? Idk really mixed feeling’s honestly. Like at first Olivia was like fiesty and had comebacks for the big play boy- captain of the NHL hockey team- Carter, but then the second they got together she was like weirdly shy, and he would even be shy and nervous sometimes and fumble his words which was like annoying once they were deep in the relationship. I prob wouldn’t read this again or avidly recommend it to anyone but I’m def not HATING on it.

I loved the side characters, especially the old man hank, who he and his dog dublin made me cry many a times. Also loved her nephew and niece and carters relationship with them. But I really was pushing thru bc I want to read the next book which is a brothers best friend trope with Garrett.

Summary with spoilers:
Carter and Olivia meet bc their best friends are dating and she is warned off bc Carter is an immense fuck boy. When he sees her he’s instantly hooked and tries to seduce her but she rejects him so he becomes obsessed. Then after that he’s pretty much obsessed and changed his ways but she walks away early on cuz she’s insecure. But then he wins her back. She’s a gym teacher and has way too comfortable of a relationship with her high school male students. Also they mention how fucking tiny this girl is in every chapter it’s actually irritating like we get it. They move at a fast pace for legit everything, she moves in so quick. and after he wins the Stanley cup this cunt steals his phone and blackmails him with Olivia’s nudes, so the paparazzi make it look like he’s cheating. This part was so annoying like why didn’t he just tell her what happened instead of just blubbering to her and making it seem like he cheated and put her through heartbreak for legit no reason??? Anyways after that it’s their friends wedding and he proposes to her at the wedding like ew (also he loves being flashy and confessing his love on the jumbotron and has done it from the beginning (this part I liked). ) and then the epilogue is their wedding and they also announce she’s pregnant. Like damn these two did all this in under a year but whatever. I like his obsession so I’m sure I’ll love their cameos in the next book, which better be good or I’ll be deadass pissed.

A really cute story. The voice actors on the audio book were great when they voiced their own characters, but it did feel weird when each also voiced the other MC. His voice for  Olivia was very whiny, which made it feel like a completely different character than when she voiced Olivia in her POV. I was a sucker for his faint Canadian accent for Connor though!
