A writer in need of some inspiration for a holiday book: Dorian and Saira were really cute together. Loved the story’s Christmas feels.

Christmas is over

These type of books are usually my pallet cleansers between reading high fantasy and sci-fi. Easy to read and cute, but this one…

The writing…

I cannot read the word yoni one more time. Yikes.

A Novel Christmas is a romance with a cozy, wintery small-town setting and insta-love. Saira brings her architect's eye to life with vivid, detailed descriptions of homes and spaces—at times overly descriptive, but it goes with her character. The story shines in its emotional depth, particularly through Dorian's journey of healing from grief and opening himself to love.

Overall, the story captures the magic of Christmas and second chances through Saira and Dorian's blossoming romance. The romance and character arcs stood out as strong points despite some of the descriptive writing. It's not my favorite book from this author (this is my third read), but overall, it's not bad for a Christmas romance.

Widower romances are low on the list of tropes I like when they aren’t already ready to move forward. It’s one thing to still love someone it’s another to still be in love with them, and who can compete with a ghost. Anyway that part of it was navigated ok but I didn’t love it. I did however love the connection between the mains, something about a person always wanting to touch and hold you is just top tier. It’s the cute, contemporary side of possessive and obsessive. One thing this book did was drive home my bucket list item to visit a uber Christmas town. I think the Christmas vibes were on point and all the food talk had me snacking hard during this read. I didn’t love all the unnecessary recapping but overall the writing was decent and the story was enjoyable.
