A sweet, low-stress read. Suburban fantasy romance (get it, like urban fantasy? But like a toned down version. You get it).
It was okay, but right at the end an error really took me out of the book. I don’t understand why, when Ben and Eleanore first confronted Isabel, Eleanore ended up taking Ben’s car and taking a few days to drive home, whereas Ben got demon teleported by Lilith. But then the start of chapter twenty-seven starts with Ben being “on his way to Gigi’s rally to help set up when Lilith ran in front of his car.” But this is before Eleanore got back with Bens car. Idk if I’m missing something but I felt like I was puzzling this more than I was enjoying reading. I feel like it’s a simple spot that an editor could have picked up, or made it clearer that they took a rental to see Isabel or something.

really enjoyed this book, it’s the first I’ve read from this author and the first in this series I’ve read. It’s a very interesting setting and plot, containing mortals and immortals alike. The dynamic between Ben and Eleanora is something unlike I’ve read before and made for a fun interesting read. It was a fun romcom style read, definitely a cozy romance with a sprinkle of found family alongside more serious themes. I would have preferred a bit more of a slow burn for my tastes but this was overall a cute fun read. I can’t wait to read another book from the series.
