This wasn’t my favorite of the three, but it was still an enjoyable read! I wasn’t entirely sold on Ben’s personality—some aspects felt contradictory. And how is it that his sister only has the same friends as him, yet she was never mentioned in the previous books?
That said, I really enjoyed the story. Ben’s dynamic with Eleanora, a fierce vampire succubus trapped in a cursed crystal, was entertaining. Their contrasting personalities—his anxious yet nurturing nature and her blunt, fiery demeanor—made for great banter and character growth. Seeing familiar faces from the previous books was also a treat. And I will never complain about more Lilith scenes! She absolutely needs her own book next—or at the very least, Hawley needs to publish some of Lilith’s fanfic!

This is one of the worst books ive ever read. Its horrible. I felt so uncomfortable reading it. It was cringy at every turn. The characters were one dimensional, the dialogue felt forced, and the pacing was off. There were too many things going on and no one part of the story felt like the main plot. It seems like the author forgot about Eleanor’s curse until the last 100 pages and had to haphazardly cobble it together. Also the characters didn’t have good chemistry and their romance felt rushed even in a >400 pages book. Lines regularly made me recoil with how cringy or unnecessarily vulgar they were (please stop talking about testicles). The use of modern fantasy was a bad choice, and i know that was the whole plot but it was bad. There were way too many species and the way they were integrated into modern life was weird and almost childish. Any point that i laughed when reading this was when i was laughing at it not with it. It’s only redeeming qualities is that there is a few paragraphs that are sexy and you can laugh at it and complain about it. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
