Once I got hooked, I couldn’t put it down!!

When this started out I was sure it would be maybe a four star read…maybe. But then I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. Hands down it’s at least a five star book! I loved Julian and Autumn…oh and Capri too!! What a wonderful story!!

The Queen of Angst has done it again y’all!
This book made me feel all the feels!
It’ll keep you on the edge of your seat.
Gah it was soo good I didn’t want it to end.
I finished this in one sitting. No adulting got done until I finished the book.

I normally love second chance, billionaire romances. An alpha CEO who came from nothing, self-made and powerful, is a very attractive notion in a romance novel. The fact that he left the woman he loved to pursue his future and now he’s a billionaire who wants to offer her everything, is the stuff of romance. Unfortunately, both characters in this story appalled me at times. It wasn’t until the second part of the book that I started to feel some sympathy and liking for them.

Julian was a foster system child and lived in several foster homes and group homes. He was Autumn’s big brother’s best friend and he spent most of his time in their home. Autumn’s parents took him into their hearts, prepared a room for him, and he loved them back fiercely. Because of this loyalty to them, he rejected Autumns advances many times. Christian, her big brother, was also over-protective of his little sister and kept her off-limits to Julian.

This didn’t deter Autumn’s determination to win over Julian and she used the whole female arsenal: provocative clothes, make him jealous with other boys, pursue him shamelessly until eventually he gave her all the firsts: kiss, sex and oral. However, he eventually left, broke all contact with the whole family, and only reappeared years later as the CEO of his company.

When Julian’s staff felt he needed a publicist to fix his image as an antisocial jerk, she’s brought into the fold and he decides that this is his opportunity to finally obtain the happiness he’d denied himself earlier. However, his cocky and alpha attitude and her broken and defiant heart, made all his efforts backfire.

This story would have been heavenly if not for the crass dialogues, Autumn’s lack of professionalism during their reunions and his overbearing manners. I didn’t feel a smidge of empathy for either. Later on, as their feelings are more engaged, and another character is brought into the plot, their conversations went into the angsty and emotional arena and the story got more palatable to me. Even so, it was not a very enjoyable read for me, which explains the low rating given.

**I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.**

Alpha CEO is a stand alone second chance angsty romance read.

Autumn was in love with her brother's best friend, Julian, for as long as she could remember. Julian was Autumn's first love and first heartbreak when he just vanished out of her life ten years ago. In those ten years Autumn has become one of the top publicists in the country. After working with her name was made working with an out of control band she is the most sought after publicists. When Julian Locke's multi billion dollar company is about to go from private to public the people around him know he needs to change the public's opinion of him and hire Autumn. Autumn takes the job knowing this will make her career but not knowing how her heart will fair.

Julian walked away from Autumn knowing he was making the only decision he could. Making her hate him was the only way he could let her go. Now he's known as the Alpha CEO putting business above all else. When they are thrown back together all of those feelings come back. The man Autumn knew isn't the same one standing in front of her now. Can Julian and Autumn pick up where they left off?

The angst is high with this read. There is so much history between them and a ton of baggage that needs to be unpacked. The chemistry is unmatched. I flew through the pages wanting to see what would happen.

I can't wait for what's next with Christian and Kinley!!

Second Chance Contract by M. Robinson is a best friend’s baby sister, second chance billionaire romance. Autumn has loved Julian for what seems like forever. He is her brother’s best friend and like family to her so she could only really be friends with him, nothing more. Over time, their feelings for each other change, and one kiss changes their relationship. Their brief relationship ended on a sour note when Julian left after breaking Autumn's heart.

The story takes place in the past and present. There were many great things about this book. The angst was ah-ma-zing. There’s a reason Robinson is known as the Queen of Angst and it shows! The story was thoroughly engaging and emotional. I could not put the book down and was thoroughly invested in Julian and Autumn’s story.

Overall, this book was enjoyable, but there were a few things I wasn’t particularly fond of. I absolutely despised Julian’s character at the beginning. I hated the way he acted throughout the book and particularly towards Autumn. He was, however, more tolerable towards the end of the book. And Autumn, I really wanted her to stand up for herself against Julian, but she continuously fell for his act. As the book progressed Autumn did hold her own in some aspects and I grew to kind of like her character.

Overall, despite my general dislike of Julian and Autumn, I really enjoyed the story. I loved the banter, the angst, and the spice. I could not put this book down once I started it. This book was off the charts spicy and the dirty talk was so hot. I felt like I need to take a break and cool off, but I couldn't because the book was so addicting! I'm really looking forward to Christian and Kinley's book, especially after the last bit in the epilogue.

Let me start my review by saying that this is probably one of my top favourite books by M. Robinson. This book hits differently than most of the books that I've read from her. The way she delivers mutual pining & second chance trope is just *chef kiss*. Like seriously, Alpha Ceo really got me hooked from the beginning till the end. It was such an enjoyable read that I was able to finish everything in one day.

Talking about the characters, Julian is probably one of the sexiest men by Monica. Believe me, this guy's sexiness is just a whole new level. I couldn't stop simping over him throughout the entire book. He is just everything and more. Whereas for Autumn, I adore her sassiness and strong personality, including the way she knows how to carry herself. When you finally read this book, you can truly feel the chemistry and connection between Julian and Autumn. Despite the conflict that they are facing, they still couldn't stop but feel attracted to one another. Lord, I can't even describe the sexual tensions in this book

4 stars

It was nice to have this author go back to her roots. I love angst. I enjoyed her chapters and the twists that came with the story.

This isn't my favorite by this author but it still was a solid book. I struggled at times with a few of the transitions, especially, with the alternating then an now. I found I wanted to focus on the now as they navigated into the future.

That being said, still a story that I wanted to see until the end which speaks to her prowess as an author.

So freaking good

This book was so damn good. My jaw was on the floor at some parts and then I was sobbing during others. I loved the back and forth from past to present. Finished the book in less than a day. Highly recommend!!!

I should have DNF when the hero kept calling the heroine Kid even after they had sex.

Both FMC and MMC were unsufferable and also dumb tbh.

There is a secret child that is 9 that talks like she is 3.
Turns out FMC got pregnant on purpouse. MMC has the personality of a cardboard , he is also very repetetive
