Bring Me Back

B.A. Paris

3.27 AVERAGE

dark mysterious tense
medium-paced

The dog, Peggy, was the only character I cared about.

This book is extremely dumb and I am a poorer person for having read it.

The actual writing is pleasant, but boy oh boy was the plot completely ridiculous. Not only could I see the twist coming a mile away, but it's sooooo completely implausible that it was impossible for me to suspend any sort of disbelief to buy into it.

Also, the main character is a complete idiot.

This book was dumb. Avoid at all costs.

Great psychological read

I was hoping to like this as much as I've liked other B.A. Paris books, but alas, I did not. I didn't love it, but I did continue listening to the audio book to find out what happened. I did not see the twist coming, but when it started unraveling, I did roll my eyes a bit. I didn't adore any of the characters in this book as much as I did in others by Paris, which I think is why I was just inwardly groaning while listening to this one. I did still give it three stars, but if I could have given it a high 2.5 I would have. Mildly entertaining but not sure I'd recommend this to others.

This was a tough book to provide a rating on. I was definitely sucked in, and was eager to be able to read whenever I got the chance so I could find out what happened next, so that alone should give it a high rating, right? The writing was great, the characters were good, the storyline was intriguing, but something is leaving me feeling “meh”. I don’t know what it is and it is driving me crazy. I can certainly see why others love it and how others don’t, and I’m guessing I’m not the only one who feels torn. I loved the twists and turns and how you don’t really quite know what the clincher is until the end. I also love how it is not your typical novel with the same old storyline. I do recommend others read it, especially if you like suspense.

A surprisingly good read! Kept me interested throughout and the ending wasn't obvious. It was a bit of a sad ending, but a good twist.

I finished this book in a few hours—clearly was entertaining. That being said, I despised the protagonist, he is an imbecile and creepy. The plot was unbelievable, in the strict sense of the world.

I also am not a fan of the male-savior trope and the odd objectification of the woman being saved. I understand that this was probably intentional by the author so this is just a personal observation…but eh
