I started this not realising it is the second in a duology, but I think it still works on its own (with only a few spoilers about the first that aren’t really spoilers, ie that there’s a happily ever after). I really enjoyed it! I would give it 3.5 stars. I feel like the characters were quite layered, and the plot was fun without being too typical. I find romance as a genre is quite predictable and sometimes repetitive, but I liked this one and read it in basically a day.

I liked the love of music Hannah has, and the connection she feels through songs. As a fellow music lover, this connected Hannah to me and I cared a lot about her. I also fully resonated with her belief that she is a side-character and not a main character, as that is how I feel about myself. However, just like Hannah, I should change my outlook on myself and realise that everyone is their own main character (cringe). I also really loved Fox’s character, and the more of this book I read, the more the name Fox started to sound normal. He is your classic sexy male love interest, but I liked that Tessa Bailey delved into his psychology of why he prefers to be a fuckboy. That is until he meets Hannah, kick-starting a hurricane of conflicting feelings. I liked the plot and the characters, and know I will re-read this again when I want a feel good romance book!

The ending redeemed it for a 3 star. I feel like everything was there for this to be a really great storyline. And it fell flat for me for most of the book. Stuff could’ve been resolved in 100-150 pages took 250 and it was just the same nonsense over and over. Hannah was adorable and wonderful. Fox could’ve been great. Ending helped me with him.

I really enjoyed this book, but not quite as much as the first one. I enjoyed reading about Fox and Hannah learning to be strong and confident. There wasn’t as much humor or spice in this one as the first and the suspenseful parts didn’t seem like as big of cliff hangers as the first one.

SPOILERS // i absolutely LOVED this romance. I loved how we got all the texts messages at first. hes the classic “hes so hot everyone just wants to fuck him not date him so hes a player now and thinks no girl will ever love him for more than his abs” WHICH is very ~overplayed?~ but i actually like it…guilty pleasure
