Another Rockton mystery I listened to on audiobook and couldn't wait to hear more. This series is so fun, I love the characters and the town of Rockton. I was really glad the author didn't feel the need to create any unnecessary drama between Casey and Dalton, plus...there's a puppy in this one! : )

Audiobook: Took me a few minutes to figure out what the reader was meaning when she said "toke". I've never heard that pronunciation of toque.

This second book in the Rockton/Casey Duncan series hits the ground running as Casey and Will are in the middle of chasing a resident through the woods when a blizzard suddenly hits and they are stranded. After a close encounter with someone that could have been a person or could have been a bear, they take shelter in a cave and happen upon a woman who has been held there in a pit for over a year. But who put her there? Is it a resident or one of the hostiles living in the woods?

You really can't read this book without reading the first one because it expects you to already know what the deal is with Rockton. There's very little background that doesn't directly apply to the current story. That being said, I'm really enjoying this series, particularly in audio, and I don't think I'll wait long before picking up the next book.

A Darkness Absolute is the second book in the Rockton series.

Again, this book is filled with lots of drama and a chilling mystery to solve. It’s very chilling and creepy at times, and there are lots of twists. The last few chapters especially had me hooked as the mystery is being solved!

I loved learning more about the characters who live in Rockton and their back stories in this book, and of course getting to see more of Casey and Eric’s relationship.

It will keep you hooked throughout, but I did find it to be quite slow at times. However, I find that the short chapters really helped me to fly through this book.

Overall, it was an enjoyable read that is quite chilling and filled with lots of drama, and I am excited to dive into the next book of the series!
