I had a rotten day at work yesterday and I'm still feeling it today. So I just cannot get back into this book and I feel it is the day I had yesterday that is all at fault. I will have to try again another day with this book.

I spent under 15 hours on this book start to finish. I would give it 6 stars if it was possible! I went from having tears in my eyes to laughing in less than 10 minutes. The twists and turns kept me on my toes throughout the entire book. I could not recommend this book enough. Funny, Young adult novel with a bunch of lies.
I was worried going into this book that I wouldn’t find it funny, you know, high expectations. But, man did it make me laugh. In some ways I found myself relating to Isabel (not the comedy part, I’m not that witty) and that was sort of comforting to read. Lots of good points on issues that permeate our society today was brought up but not in the way that it sounded like it was progressive for the sake of being progressive. The diversity of the cast felt natural, like it existed and accepted as a fact, and we moved on. Overall, it was a hilarious, fun and “omg-i-can’t-put-this-down” read.

The book had a good premise and some important topics were discussed (race, toxic and abusive relationships). I liked the jokes and the stand up setting. That being said, the writing was kind of cringey, the characters one dimensional and the conflicts that arose were not at all important. Some things were just too on the nose! Personally I prefer the author's other books, Heretics anonymous and let's call it a doomsday

This is one of the dumbest books I have ever read.
The back of the book says, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel comes to high school…” which is the most inaccurate description. Maisel is funny and well written. This book was neither of those things.

First things first, can we all admit that the covers of all of Katie Henry's books are minimal but beautiful. They look so good together.
Second, I really enjoyed this. It's funny, poignant, layered and completely necessary.
