It was an interesting story so to speak! It was good, but not great, I need to read Farewell to Arms

Too disjointed for my taste. I did not enjoy a single character. And the inner dialogue of the women was so obviously written by a man.

I know this was probably the worst book to introduce me to Hemingway, but I had to read it for class. I will be fair and give him another chance in the future.

It's always hard to read around the racism in Hemingway. Extracting that, it was a salty, solid story of a guy just trying to make a buck -- doing things his way whether it's a good idea or not.

People sure did have some things and didn't have others.

I found this so bad. Like Hemingway fan fiction. Reminded me of Bukowski's Pulp in that it was such a pale imitation of his other books.
