I tried. I listened to over an hour but I just don't enjoy historical anything. I don't like the concept of debuting into society and I don't enjoy the marriage contracts and the casual objectification and sexism. The narrator plays both Robin and Hart but he only fits Hart so there needs to be another narrator for Robin. There's way too many names and people and I can't keep track of who is who and why I care and what they're doing. Also, Robin's sister Marianne is, according to Hart, Spanish because she's curvy and beautiful and that feels a little weird.

It's not the book, it's me. I'm used to the vague but sensual "this and that" in Asian gay novels, hence, the straightforward descriptions of the "this and that" in this book is really not my thing.
The imagery is a bit lacking as well.
Also, I did not connect with any of the characters.
