J'aime la construction du monde et du système de magie, cependant, je trouve que le fait que chaque livre se concentre sur un différent couple un peu mélangeant. Je souhaite en apprendre plus sur les couples des autres livres, pas un nouveau couple.

I have mixed feelings about this one. Probably because there was a mix of characters I'm really into and others I feel meh about. And the multiple pots constantly changing did not help. I've learned I do not like too many. They take me out of the story. That being said, overall I enjoyed this but not as much as the previous novel in this series. We ended with some surprises there. I am intrigued.

The third book in the Earthsinger series, Cry of Metal & Bone is another riveting fantasy romance sure to keep your attention hooked and your pages turning. Darvyn, Kyara, Jasminda, and Jack are all back, as well as some familiar faces in Tai and Lizvette. The tension between them might be a little high-strung when they first meet, but it quickly settles into something passionate and comforting at the same time.

And they are quickly off on an adventure to the mysterious lands of Yaly, where dangerous plots are afoot. Lizvette's traitorous father is in hiding, and rooting him out is her only chance to clear her name. And Tai is on a secret mission from the Goddess Awoken to rescue Jasminda's still living family. Lizvette is both fragile and brave, and Tai is both strong and soft, and it is their differences that make them fit so well together.

If you haven't read the novellas that are set between the main novels of the series yet, don't miss them, by the way! They add so much more to the story, and introduce important characters. I don't think I would have been nearly so invested in this book right from the start if I hadn't already read Hush of Storm & Sorrow. I can't wait to read the finale to this series, and see just what the war between the Three Worlds will bring us!

[I received this book for free through First Reads and was not required to write a positive or any other type of review. All opinions stated herein are solely my own.]

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Cry of Metal and Bone was a fun expansion of a world I have come to enjoy, but it felt somewhat less robust in comparison to Song of Blood and Stone. I feel like some of my experience was affected by my inability to read the second book before reading the third. but due the structure of the series and ample explanation I was able to understand fully what was happening and was not lost.

My favorite storyline was once again Ella and Benn's--I enjoyed Ella's investigations into the Hand of the Reaper and their experience of creating a nontraditional family amidst the tensions in Elsria. Plus, their adopted daughters were super cute. Kyara and her story were my second favorite, and I enjoyed her friendship with Jasminda's family. However, I felt Darvyn's character, as well as Tai's to some extent, were bogged down by the focus on their relationship with their significant others as opposed to actual character development. Lizvette's redemption was interesting but once again I felt she was cheated by how much of her storyline was taken up by her enemies-to-lovers romance with Tai. Two of my favorite characters were actually Vanesse and Clove--their relationship was adorable and I could have read a whole book about them and Clove's escapades as a pilot in the race.

Overall I thought the novel was a solid follow-up, though I was more excited by the world-budiling than the characters. I could have used a little more focus on individual development as opposed to relationships, but it didn't detract too strongly from my experience.

So first...the shopkeeping items, I recieved this book in a goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. Though if we're being honest I read the first two books in this series and had EVERY intention of getting this one. Now with that out of the way lets get into the review.

Being that I started this book shortly after I finished the second installment of the series I was very eager to find out what happened to Kyara and Darvyn. To my dismay the first quarter of this book did nothing to calm my excitement. I think that may be why it took me so long to finish, the book just starts out pretty slow. Don't let that dissuade you from picking this book up though, because once the plot gets going, it gets going!

While the previous books have been written from multiple POVs, I felt this book had a bit more of that than the previous book. Here, we are focused on Mr. Tai Summerhawk and Lizvette Nirall, Kyara and Darvyn, Ella, Tani and Ilsni, and a little bit of Jasminda and Jack. There is a reason for that. This book has a lot of moving parts and in order to explain everything that's going on you need all of the information. I think Penelope does a great job weaving all of the individual stories together in a way that makes sense for the reader while still maintaining the integrity of the big picture.

Okay, so big pictute. Unification never comes without a cost right? Centuries of hatred and bigotry doesn't just go away because the Goddess that Awoken is awake. There are forces at play that want to maintain the old wayand they're willing to do whatever it takes to do it.

Also, can we talk about the Goddess Awoken? At times she is annoying and unlikable, always playing with people's emotions. Hell at times I felt like she was playing with mine the way she was manipulating everyone's actions without letting make decisions for themselves. Sis isn't even omniscient. Anyway I've devolved into a rant. Ummm... buy this book ... then read this book... and don't take 2 months to do it like I did. You won't regret it.
