I’m going to be as honest as I can. I was BORED throughout 98% of this book. It was hopelessly going nowhere and then bam bam bam. Turn after turn after turn. I was pissed of that Tally stayed behind when the whole goal was to get herself out. After all, she had only known Zane for a short amount of time and once she started thinking of David again, it seemed like she was really debating on staying with him entirely. Zane was definitely not significant enough to stay with when you compare him to David! And as for Shay turning into a Special? Just. Why?! She was so strong-minded in the beginning of the first book and throughout this book she was just a very unlike-able character.
Basically, I was bored and then angry. That’s my review lol.

3.5

I think I’m still gonna go with a 4, bc that’s what I was thinking for the majority of the book. The ending, which as I’ve said a million time endings usually leave me rating higher but not this one, has me leaning back towards 3. Maybe 3.5 rounded up then.

“Love triangles” will be the death of me.
This book started out okay, and got better, and continued to get better, until the last idk 20% ish?
Far too much is happening for such a small book. We’ve got cutters in a cult, human beings trapped in the forest nearby used for experimentation, a whole psychopath running special ops, I just.
Tally isn’t as annoying either. She’s got a goal and it does wonders for her internal monologue.
Zane is the only one I’m showing up for after this.
David is far more weak minded than I thought, letting his crazy overbearing mother wreak havoc within himself. At least this one is accurate - so many grown men need their mommies so badly they marry women just like the mothers they grew up with, which is yanno, creepy AF.
I have to keep going, if only to see how Zane is, and maybe to see if Tally beats Shay’s ass.

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't have any doubts about this book. Tally is back in the city after betraying the Smokies and has undergone the operation to turn her pretty. In the Pretty world though she senses something is wrong. She's not as bubbly as she should be.

I loved the way the characters changed both through the brain damage and their own growth. Shay and Tally seem doomed to love and hate each other all at the same time. Tally has a strange love triangle going on with David and Zane which isn't completely apparent until the end of the book and Dr. Cable again makes Tally feel ugly and stupid.

Love it!

Moving onto Specials right away!

The start was a bit slow and tedious - but that's Pretty-life for you! I didn't feel the same rapt tension throughout as I did with Uglies, but the ending has me hooked for the next book in the series.

I got a little distracted about halfway through this one, but I'm crazy for these books. They are so much better than their covers would have you believe.
