Yes, I know, I am probably the last person on booksta to start this series, this has been on my TBR for far too long.
I absolutely loved this, the characters melted my heart. I loved Victoria and Oliver and following their fake relationship and how this turned into real love.
Now to read the rest of the ‘meet me’ series.

- romance with beefier deeper plot lines and good character development
- fast paced
- quick witty dialogue
- could have done without the cheesy “straining trousers” and “heavy breasts” et al references

Victoria is bartending on the side as she tries to establish her clothing design business. Oliver is having a drink at the bar as he prepares to open his family’s next department store, when he sees Victoria. There is an instant attraction, and when he runs into her on the street, knocking her over, their relationship starts as a pretend engagement to satisfy his pushy parents. This romance is a pleasure to read, as both Oliver and Victoria fight against the walls they have put up to avoid relationships. I recommend this book as a heartfelt, well written story and thank NetGalley for the ARC.

Normally enemies to lovers is not for me, but this one didn't commit so hard to the trope throughout. The set up is that their made to be enemies, but they're both good people so you're never made to actually hate him which I think is what always bugs me about the trope. Hard to compete with a set up similar to You've Got Mail, and it doesn't, but it's so hard to find enjoyable reads in this genre + Christmas that don't require you to put aside a bunch of flaws so I appreciated this one.

Victoria and Oliver decide to pretend to be in a relationship. Oliver’s mother is the catalyst, as she pressures him into getting married…
From this point, it’s inevitable that these two would be drawn together and the lines get blurred between reality and pretend.
Their chemistry is so that from the beginning, it’s clear that Victoria and Oliver shouldn’t be pretending…
This one isn’t too deep or emotional–it’s just the perfect sweet bit of romance to brighten your day and keep you hooked.
