How do I even begin to describe what I just read? This isn't your average arranged marriage and growing to love each other. There is attraction and love but also gut-wrenching pain and fear. When Callum leaves Kate it leaves a hole and a lot of questions. Their journey in coming back together, learning from their mistakes, and finding forgiveness and trust was so heartfelt. The beautiful way this story was weaved gave me all of the emotions. Even when I thought things were coming together nicely a truth is revealed that fully let out the tears. I love how deep we got to know each character. It was definitely an emotionally charged read.
Prepare your heart for one of the best books released this year. This novel is a beautiful heartbreak filled with emotionally gripping narrative and an underlying theme of hope, redemption and trust all set in the wilds of Scotland. I was riveted in this tale and read from start to finish without putting it down.
I’m not sure I have ever read a book with such deep emotions coming across the page and into my heart. I felt for Callum and the position he was put in. I justified his hatred and anger and my heart broke for him when reality set in. Katie is a dear. I agreed with her broken trust and heartbreak. I felt amazement at her bravery and capacity to love, even when she kept it at arm’s length.
This book is truly a masterpiece and a must read! It’s captivating and beautiful in a way no other book has been to me! Thank you to the author for a copy. All thoughts in this review are my own.

Wow. Heidi Kimball just got on my favorite authors list. Her writing is so enchanting, and I loved the characters and their personalities. Every situation they were put through and how they dealt with them was written so realisticly, you could feel the raw emotions through the pages.
I read the first few chapters last night and finished late tonight, or I guess it's morning now. I couldn't stop! Totally worth the lack of sleep and crick in my neck. If I could give it 6 stars, I would!

Woah. My word. I’m afraid to say anything out of fear that I’ll accidentally spoil it for everyone. But goodness me, this was an amazing read! Soooo many emotions!!! Heidi Kimball has done a fabulous job telling a story that flows and entrances you from the get go. Her kissing scenes are top notch and you can’t help but love Kate and Callum. I don’t know if any review could do this novel justice. From the very beginning, I was invested in the love, the family, and their future. I still feel in awe after finishing the Heart in the Highlands. It’s that good!
I think everyone needs to take a trip to Scotland and read this story. Kate (or Katie according to the Scottish hunky man named Callum) and Callum himself are both such strong and unique characters. It was extremely well written and I just loved it.
Since I don’t feel like I can say much more to not spoil the story, I’ll mention a few vague references to my favorite scenes.
-the dragon
-the rope
-the flirting
-the storm
-the leg kick
-and oh, boy…those kisses.

Oh my heart! I loved this book! It has so much depth, feeling, and raw emotion. Heidi Kimball has created a masterpiece and you can tell she put her whole heart and soul into it. The characters are so endearing and it’s easy to feel for both Katie and Callum. With achingly beautiful prose and a story that will pull at your heartstrings, I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
Set in the beautiful Scottish Highlands, this is a story of love and betrayal, of an arranged marriage and trust broken. It’s also a story of forgiveness and hope. Callum is the son of a duke expected to produce an heir to the dukedom. His father has arranged a marriage for him to a virtual stranger. Callum agrees to the marriage with the understanding that his father will help his uncle’s family. When he meets his bride, he can’t help but hope for the future.
Lady Katherine’s grandfather wants her taken care of before he dies. He agrees to an arranged marriage hoping that her marriage will be as happy as his was. When Lady Katherine meets her future husband, she is immediately attracted to the future duke. She believes that her marriage just might be all she hoped it would. When Callum leaves the day after their wedding after learning of his father’s betrayal, she is devastated. Can she ever recover from the hurt and will he ever come back?
I have both the Kindle version and just recently listened to the audiobook version of this book. The audiobook version is fantastic! Noah Wall does an amazing job bringing the characters to life. I love her Scottish accent and she is able to perfectly distinguish between each of the characters. I devoured the audiobook not only because the story is so good, but the narration is outstanding and so easy to listen to.

Oh goodness what can I say about this story?! It was just quite lovely! Being a visual person the first thing that always attracts me about a book is its cover and this one is no exception. I mean it just makes you want to be amongst the hills and highlands of Scotland. It's not just the cover that makes you feel like you want to be in this setting the author writes in such a descriptive way that you feel like you are in the setting wherever the story is taking place at that moment in the chapter.
Let's talk about the characters. Immediately as you are starting the book you can tell which characters you will absolutely love and which you are just going to detest. Callum's father is horrendous and I promise you will detest him the minute you read that first chapter. I felt for Callum immediately and the predicament his father puts him in makes it so its a struggle to feel bad for him for what he is about to do to poor Katherine.
Oh Katherine and Callum are just amazing!! Their first meeting was perfection and their romance whew!! Ladies and gents get those fans out because it is HOT!! No worries though, this is a totally clean romance so it is done in a proper manner and nothing gets outrageous! But it is quite amazing the love between the married couple... too bad that it doesn't last very long as Callum leaves Katherine behind for 4 years!!! What?! I was so upset at him! But as you read through the story you understand his motives and learn that Katherine was never too far from his thoughts!
There definitely not a lack of romance in this story and even when they reunite the tension between them is quite amazing!! There is no faith element in this story and I felt like there was never a true resolution between Callum and his father. I mean there were hints of it but nothing that you saw completely resolved. Overall I enjoyed the story and kept me engaged throughout. If you enjoy regency historical romances and clean reads then you should definitely add this to your TBR list!
I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not required to post a positive review. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

Heart in the Highlands is so very beautiful! It is also breathtaking, heartbreaking, and captivating. The characters are so well written, I felt like I knew them all. The scenery is so descriptive, I felt like I was there. I loved this story so much that I didn't want it to end. This is definitely one of my favorite reads!!

As I was reading it, I was really enjoying the initial set up, the arranged marriage, the deep emotional pull between Callum and Kate. And then he left and it made me angry, but it was still plausible. I enjoy the initial reunion, learning Charlotte had been born (though I found Kate leaving Scotland less plausible because she would have essentially run away, but I was willing to suspend my disbelief). I really loved Callum realising his mistakes, them drawing closer etc. Charlotte was an utter delight and I adore her. I was definitely heading towards a 4 or 5 star review...and then right before the end of the novel: BOOM! TRAUMA! LIKE MASSIVE TRAUMA! Of having a child stillborn, and now Kate is barren. The timing was just so off. It was sort of resolved but off the page over the years of their marriage, maybe. I think the major issue is that the book already had intense, emotional, and traumatic themes, and then adding this final layer at that point in the novel, turned it into a soap opera, instead of the love and redemption the book was aiming for. The novel was also very Callum centred, and I think it also showed that the author trusted the readers just as little as Kate trusted Callum. If we as readers had had that glimpse into Kate, distraught, going through a difficult birth, on the page, earlier in the novel, I would have been more okay with it. It felt contrived to add another element of "he can only truly love Kate if she is barren, and his punishment is that he loses a son that he never even saw". It created melodrama where there didn't need to be melodrama. Added to the Deus Ex Machina nature of the father's stroke and super quick scene with Callum sort of forgiving his father, it just left me feeling cold. I waited a day before posting, trying to digest how I felt about the book, and this is my review. It isn't particularly glowing, and yes, it is critical, but this book could have been a lot longer to give justice to these themes and could also have centred Kate more than Callum in the story. I know that then pushes the novel closer to literary fiction perhaps, but heavily traumatic themes can't be casually dealt with in my opinion. I did eventually give the book a 3 star review.
