I started out really liking this book but eventually it became repetitive and/or boring. I skimmed over most of the last half. It certainly had a lot of scientific support for a whole foods plant based diet and I'm certainly not arguing there. I plan on buying the recipe book that goes along with this because I'm convinced of the health benefits. I just feel like all diet/food books are the same. They tout their position like it's the end all, be all and they all seem to have the same scientific evidence to back it up. So I'm sticking with the idea of all things in moderation rather than picking one diet and going hard core on it.

I read this years ago and immediately went vegan. No one wanted to be my friend anymore because I was so loud about it. So I blame this book for me losing all my friends too.

I’m not a vegan anymore. It only lasted four years because i needed people in my life but it’s all because of this book.

I have no doubt I missed a LOT of information within this book, but there was so much to take in! It is obviously pro Plant-based eating. However, I didn't find it to be written with scare tactics. Instead, it was full of evidence, support and reasoning... Then, we are left to make our own decision. I may dabble occasionally with meat and dairy, but this book still gave me a feeling of peace. Peace knowing that the choices I have been making recently are so beneficial to my body. I am hoping to keep it around and healthy for as long as possible!!

Possibly outdated and maybe slightly biased interpretation of data, but over all several valid points were made and provides a very telling insight into the state of the western diet

This book is large and dense. And good. I can see how it had revolutionary ideas for the time that it was published. As stated in the book, nutrition studies are very hard to extend for years on end so observational studies are largely used as a basis to make conjectures about health and diet. In the years since it has been published, studies show  that a whole food vegan diet is the healthiest to follow, the best on environmental impact, and morally the right one to follow too.
